As I've seen in the "Presenting GAQ: Girls Answer Questions" thread, there hasn't been any previous attempt to create a friendship OT:

So, I'm going to attempt it.

This OT will be for GAFers who would like to chat with fellow GAFers and become online friends/buddies with each other.

I'll start it off with myself.

Hello fellow GAFers, I'm KSweeley, a 31 year old male who lives in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. I'm a lifelong resident of Baltimore, I like anime, Otakon, manga, using Facebook, listening to music, watching various TV shows on Netflix, science, art, playing video games, reading books.

I feel more comfortable chatting with people online thus this attempt here on GAF to try to see if anyone else who is comfortable to chat online would be willing to chat with me, the reasoning behind wanting online friends is I have Asperger's Syndrome which has severely affected my social interaction skills in real life.

I find myself to be kind and understanding and would like to become friends who are the same and friends who are in tune with my personal views which are I fully support LGBTQ rights and believe that anyone, no matter their sexual orientation should be able to get married, females should have the right to choose what's right for their bodies, supports eradicating poverty, prejudice, hatred in the world, supports the female personal choice of having an abortion, a huge pet peeve of mine is females being treated like crap both currently and in world history (misogyny sucks, wish people everywhere could respect women and understand that they are in fact fellow human beings and NOT a sexual object). I was raised by my parents to treat everyone the way I would like to be treated, with respect, kindness and honesty.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food:

Books: Harry Potter, Ray Bradbury books, Neil Gaiman books, any book that talks about social justice issues, and many more books, too many to list, I like all genres of books.

Movies: The Dark Night, Silent Hill, Star Trek 2009 and the subsequent movies in the reboot franchise, Star Wars, Ghost in the Shell (2017), Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, dramas, sci-fi, horror, thrillers.

TV Shows: Sailor Moon, X-Men, X-Files, Law & Order, CSI, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, Cowboy Bebop, InuYasha, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, House, Bones, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, American Dad, Futurama, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Los Angeles, The Walking Dead, Law & Order: UK, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bob's Burgers, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Charmed and a shit-ton of other TV shows.

Music: anime, Videogame Music, Garbage, Lauryn Hill, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Linkin Park, Maroon 5, J-Pop, and a lot more, too many to really list here (however I hate country music).

Videogames/Video Games: Alien: Isolation, Bioshock, BioShock 2, BioShock: Infinite, Crysis, Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Descent, Descent 2, Descent 3, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Half-Life 2, Portal, Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Quake 4, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and a whole lot more games (currently own over 500 videogames on Steam and 90 games on EA Origin) .

Favorite Foods: Pizza, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, Japanese, Chinese (I basically love ALL kinds of food).

So I hope that this thread takes off and there's people who are willing to chat with me and other fellow GAFers.

This a nice idea. Many folks on GAF struggle with meeting people and making friends.

Will this thread be like a general discussion type thing? It seems the OP is set up that way.

Good thread idea. I'd like to interact with more people on GAF personally (the people I've met on some GAF discords have been wonderfully). Perhaps a good idea would perhaps be to setup a Discord sever, for those who would like to communicate outside of GAF?

Well, if the premise is simply for more GAF members to become more social with each other then it would be a good way for people to congregate (plus it allows voice chat if people choose to do so).

Yes, but if it's easy to set up a Discord server, I would set up a Discord server and post the link in here so that would be a general discussion and hopefully we can all be friends.

I like the idea of the thread, but I feel there would be more value in one promoting and helping people develop real-life platonic friendship. "How to make friends as an adult", "Where to meet new friends as a socially-troubled person", that kind of thing.

As fun as online friends are, sometimes you need someone flesh-and-blood to tear up the town with...or play board games in a coffee shop.

I think one of the reasons it hadn't been done yet is that keeping up with an OP in an OT can be a lot of work, and nobody had volunteered for that kind of long term assignment.

When people post excellent advice, their post can be quoted and pasted into the OP.

Collecting people for a Discord chat is fine, but it requires even MORE work. Because it is real time. So it needs to be run with an iron fist moderated actively. Kudos if you are volunteering!

I totally understand, I'm barely social in real life simply because I don't have great social interaction skills due to having Asperger's Syndrome and being able to chat online is great for me.

Well i'll step it out:

1. Get on the seat
2. Immediately go in for freezing the gum area (in this case the upper part - the tooth getting the canal done is the second to last molar). Probably a good minute of pain from the needle. I'd say that's the most painful or second most painful thing you'll feel.
3. Wait 5-10 minutes for freezing to completely numb
4. Operation begins. Initial discomfort when they start opening the tooth but not very bad. Third most unpleasant thing, and it goes away quickly. Upon opening, dentist will likely comment on the amount of necrosis that's occurred in the nerve - for myself, only partial necrosis.
5. Go into one of the canals to start cleaning it. Even with freezing, you'll feel it for a good 5-10 seconds. Like second most painful thing. Then afterwards when they begin cleaning, the second and etc cleans don't feel like much at all.
6. Take a break
7. Another canal. Cuz this one is deeper (being a molar and all), I feel it more, Second or first most painful; depending on how deep/big it is, the pain can feel like is *sharp* and you really feel it for 5-10 seconds. Rank it probably the most painful you'll feel.
8. Doc finishes up with filling in the canals and done phase 1. Just eating on left for now, not much/any residual pain since the operation.

Note! I only had pain in my teeth in one spot (and on the side) and it was only for a month. The dentist said it's normally super painful when you leave the tooth alone for too long to the point where a lot of the nerve has experienced necrosis or you get the abcess/sore growing from the gum. I didn't get to those stages so my pain was not so bad.

Still, earlier the better!

Back in again to complete it on Tuesday.
