Pro-scan question

Is it possible for PS3 to output normally non Progressive scan games in Pro-scan?

Would the effect be similar to an HDTV upconverting a SD signal, or could it produce a true pro-scan image?

I'm curious if PS3 could remedy the artifacting I get with SF3 Third Strike or Metal Slug 3 on my PS2 and HDTV.

1. With no knowledge of PS3 specs nothing is certain.
2. PS3 certainly has the horsepower to line double/upconvert a 480i title.
3. Producing a true 480p image requires some buffer trickery as seen in the Blaze VGA adapter, which means even if it could construct a true progressive image only some games would be able to make it happen.
4. Although I'm skeptical, considering the haphazard PS1 enhancements on the PS2, I wouldn't put it past Sony to try and implement it as a PS2 enhancement feature on their next system (and I really hope they're listening).
