Probably a Dumb Arcade Stick pushbutton question...

Well I have an X-Arcade stick and it's great that I can use it on any system that I want to use it on (except saturn). I hated the stick in it originally so I put in a Ultimate 8-way and it works great. I'm happy with that Ultimate 8-way. I'm now to the point of I do not like the buttons either. They are screw-in buttons. I've been playing Tekken 5 and they have Sanwa sticks and pushbuttons. My question is that can I swap my X-Arcade screw-in pushbuttons and put in Sanwa Snap-in pushbuttons instead? http://www.himuragames.com/store_buttons.php is the link for the Sanwa Snap-in Pushbuttons. Is installing these any different than regular screw-in pushbuttons? Thanks

The much bigger issue is the X-Arcade lag. Don't think you can escape it. For any random mook I might downplay the lag because they wouldn't notice it, but if your already modding your stick, why keep a core achilles heel. It's time to buy a Dual Shock 1 H series (or PS pad M series) and switch the PCB.

Yeah, you'll lose the PC compatibily, but not it you get nuts with spade connects and barrier strips. See what I'm going for here?
You want old X-Arcade? Plug in the original PCB wires.
You want PSX PCB? plug that in.
Not easy, not hard, just a little dynamic... and totally theoretical at this point, but I was browsing a Radio Shack catalog this morning...

Well, I was going to get ready and order those snap-in buttons. My only real issue with my stick is the buttons right now. I don't like them for one but the other thing is that they come loose after like 1 day of play. I have taken pliers to them and they will not stay tight. I've debated about making a whole new stick and putting a sawna optical stick in it and snap-in buttons. So the Sanwa parts would be like $90 bucks just say after shipping. I've already got a couple spare PS1 dual shocks laying around or even PS2 for that matter. But mainly I just want to swap out the buttons on my x-arcade for now. I don't have a lot of money to spend and the sanwa buttons are going to be a birthday present. Hopefully someone has modded out the X-arcade with sanwa buttons before.

It's sanwa stick and pushbuttons mounted on 3/4 inch wood with lexan.

Note the wood case with H series dualshock as the PCB, the analog sticks are still there!
He seems to be following guidelines set be Tha Darkside though, and that guy mounts Sanwa in stuff like Red OCtane cases. If you get screw Sanwas, you should be just fine.

Putting the Sanwa stick in wood is a trickier proposition. It is almost certainly going to require some very light carpentry work and I'm not quite about that yet.

You can order a pushbutton wrench from Happ, I did and my buttons be so tight, dig?
