Problems with my Bittorrent and router....

Okay, I know about the problem BT has behind routers. No matter what ports I opened, I would always get slow speeds and the yellow status light. No problem, I decided I'd just plug my PC directly to the internet rather than through a router. Only problem is, my BT still shows the yellow status light even though my PC is hooked up directly.

Is this just because the download is going slow, or does it still think I'm behind a router for some reason?

Also, is there any way to fix the router situation? No matter how many times I set my IP to static and open up the right ports (I have a Linksys btw), it still either shows yellow, or my internet just completely stops working. This is driving me nuts.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
The router thing put me off and I haven't touched BT since. Anyone have a newb to BT FAQ link or something?

can you change the ports bittorrent uses? Apparently some ISPs throttle common ports, so if you are using 6881-6999 (or whatever the standard is) you need to change it to different ports and beat the throttling that can occur with some isps.

something to try anyway....

I think I was having that problem recently with my ISP. I had the port forwarding all set up correctly and everything, then one day I stopped getting green signlas through BT.

I know for sure that BitTornado allows you to change the ports that are used. I changed mine to 10881-10999, told my router to forward those ports, and I'm back in green-light territory.
