Project 007 vs. Indiana Jones

What are you most excited to play?

We've seen the announcement trailers but don't yet know too much about the games. Still, these are some exciting projects and I'm personally more interested in the new 007 James Bond. Especially because I like the gameplay of Hitman games and sneaking around all of the different levels set around the world. That said, I can't say I'm too interested in Indiana Jones even though I like classic Tomb Raider and Uncharted. I just never watched the movies more than once, I don't know.

What about you, GAF? Which game are you more excited to learn about and play?

Anyone else tend to like poll threads? Nice job OP.

I have a feeling Indiana Jones is going to draw a lot of inspiration from Uncharted which copy pasted from the Indiana Jones franchise so definitely not that.

Hitman developer + Bond gadgets seems more up my alley.

Need to see more before deciding but based on the recent output of the respective studios 007 has a better chance of being good.

After playing the Dartmoor level in Hitman 3 I now know IO is going to knock 007 out of the park. That level is just so damn good.

Its got to be 007, because IO Interactive have a proven track record with the new Hitman games getting better as they went on over the last 5 years, whereas machinegames modern Wolfenstein series got worse as it went on.

Also even though we've seen nothing of both, its easier for me to imagine a good Bond game coming from IO when they weren't afraid to make something unusual with regards to the rest of the market. Machinegames have made 4 (5 if you count Cyberpilot) high-octane FPSes so far and thats not what I want Indiana Jones to be, hopefully they really lean into the puzzles and off of the combat.

Latest James bond movies have been really good and fun to watch, I hope they can come up with great gameplay and set pieces.
The last Indiana Jones movie was kind of so so, I wonder if they will be able to deliver a good game, for one thing I would hate that the game has anything that resembles a crafting system, I hate those, I tried to play the Tomb Raider games that were free on PS+ and those are boring as hell and the levels although they are good in design, they are not fun to play. Harrison Ford must act on the game, and performance capture is a must, Anything less is not welcomed. Lets wait and see.

Indiana Jones is from a Bethesda studio so many people already don't like it, by default, for obvious reasons. Personally I have no clue since we know exactly zero for both games.

I found Wolfenstein to be incredibly linear so I hope they open things up at least a little bit to allow player freedom. Indiana Jones isn't an all-out machine gun ripping action series, while it does have it's moments the game really needs a compelling story and Jones needs to be like he is in the films, an archeologist who is willing to get tough to secure history. I/O is a perfect choice for James Bond, the Hitman games are already pretty close to what I'd like to see in a good bond game. Honestly I'd much prefer I/O to do an India Jones game set up more like Hitman than what I expect to see from Machine Games. Indiana Jones had to blend into crowds and sneak about multiple times during his adventures on screen to escape or infiltrate so the Hitman game style would be a really good fit.

I'm going to play both and am excited for both. Have to give the slightest edge to Bond, just because I slightly prefer the movies to Indie (although the Indie trilogy is fantastic).

I'm more interested in Indiana Jones bc I have no idea what it will be like by MachineGames. Pivot to 3rd person? First person? Genre?

Bond is also a mystery, but I have a feeling it will stick to the Hitman formula but be more story and action driven and less "immersive sim" kinda.

A little early for this, no? Like we don't even have a teaser trailer to go on for either game!
We do but I know what you mean. Best way to really know is to see the gameplay or have them detail all of the features which we don't know yet.

That said, I'm wondering how soon we might see a proper gameplay trailer for Project 007, this year's E3 in the form of a pre-alpha build or perhaps that is too early?

I have a feeling both will be third person. It's kind of hard to imagine a first-person Indiana Jones. Especially if Harrison Ford is lending his likeness and melee combat is just more fun in third-person.

I have no clue, better wait until they are fully shown (Gameplay footage). I don't care about Cinematic trailers/teasers.

I will take what ever iO is doing over Machine Games. Although I like the character of Indy more.

How can Indiana Jones draw alot of inspiration from Uncharted which is a copy and pasted from the Indiana Jones franchise?

If we look at their past work, it's easy to conclude that IO are a much better fit for James Bond than MG are for Indiana Jones.

Not enough information. 007 could be reskinned Hitman for all we know - which would make it technically great but one which I wouldn't be immediately interested of.

What is a modern Indiana Jones game like without coming off as a Uncharted/Tomb Raider copy?

A lot of things could go right. A lot of things could go wrong.

Why do these even need to be compared? We haven't seen gameplay or know if they are in the same genre. Both games could turn out awesome in their own right but both could also turn out garbage.

untill we see footage of gameplay there is no point speculating anything

Would be Bond for me.

The Indy game has to complete with Uncharted and that's a tall order....

I fear the Indy game will be as generic as it comes tbh, it would really need to do something different that Uncharted or any other game in that genre hasn't done before...... and traditionally movie games and innovation dont go hand in hand.

I'm more interested in the potential of a 007 game than an Indiana Jones game due to what can be assumed about the respective gameplay from each title based on the IP. That said, I'm interested to see what MachineGames does with Indy and won't rule out giving it a try.

I like both, a bit more James Bond but i like both. But you can't tell which game is gonna be really good, until the games are out.

I lean towards 007 more due to the modern time setting, but honestly neither of the two movie franchises appeal to me. I used to like 007 movies a lot, but after Pierce Brosnan's series Bond relies less and less on all the fancy gadgets, which for me was the quintessence of the series, with Skyfall being basically an adult version of "Home Alone"...

Ultimately until I see something from either company it's hard to say I am excited for either one. That said I feel like there is a lot more mystery/intrigue around the Indiana Jones game because my expectation is the 007 game will be very similar to Hitman.

We know NOTHING about EITHER, this thread is a complete waste of time.

Any company can make a shitty game these days, just takes the wrong team, look at the other 007 games that have come out.

Tomb Raider was heavily inspired from Indiana Jones which was also inspired from Alan Quartermaine. Dude Raider, the one you call Uncharted was a total rip-off from Tomb Raider. At this point everyone is paying tribute to everyone.

The recent trilogy of Hitman games are fantastic. Machine Games has been hit or miss for me, so I vote 007. Plus, dat Goldeye nostalg!
