Project Awakening (PS4)

Looks like it could be an interesting game, I like the look of it in general. I do hope you can create your own main though, because that guy looks like a dork.

Looks like Dragon's Dogma 2. Awakening, the logo, the general aesthetic.

Clearly not since Cygames has unimaginable fuck you money. No need to do contract work for Capcom... But it is weird.

Looks a little too grey and grim for me. That voice over was pretty corny, and something about it looks kind of janky. I'd have to see more to make up my mind, though.

They announced this in 2016 but I don't remember seeing any footage of it. They are doing this and Granblue at the same time? I had no idea they were such a big studio.

Official Press Release:

This came out of nowhere (for me) and I am pleased. If this is their take on "What if Capcom made a Dragon's Dogma II?", sign me the fuck up!

Cygames also made 'Airship Q' on Vita, a fun little Terraria clone. You can get the Asia-region version for full English menus and text.

Google shows that Junji Tago worked in MGS V GS and TPP, and Ryosuke Aiba worked on Chrono Cross and FFVII Dirge of Cerberus, interesting talent. Could be good.

Looks good for what was shown, which admittedly is very little. It's a JRPG, except it's a WRPG at the same time! Day one!

If you're talking about the console version of Granblue they're doing that with Platinum, so they're not shouldering the full burden.

Maybe you are confusing it with this?

Babylon's Fall is the other project Platinum is curently working on besides Granblue Fantasy.

I thought he was responsible for showing the team how the FOX engine worked.

If this is a spiritual successor to Dragon's Dogma, I would be ecstatic. There was just something about its combat, world, and art direction that I LOVED. If I can get more of that, I would be a happy Monster-Slayer.

Overall it looks, as others stated, promising. I need to see some more variation and proper gameplay - but I am tentatively excited.

This looks awesome, I hope it turns out well.

Its weird but I find myself more and more a fan of a style of JRPG that looks more like Western RPG. Ironically, I haven't enjoyed many Western RPG since the days of Black Isle studio. All the RPG I've enjoyed in recent years are Japanese but not the traditional anime style JRPG that I use play.

So it's supposedly running on a PS4?

If this is play footage, it's next level animation. Better even than For Honor's. Wasn't expecting this until next gen.

So basically a Souls game by a different Japanese company with next level animation. It all looks good except the protagonist. He's not bad, but he's a tad too generic for my tastes, both in terms of face and attire (too much brown in it, for one thing, and not enough metal). This game is DEFINITELY on a lower level of aesthetics than From's games, but obviously on a much higher one in terms of animation (again, if the trailer does indeed show play footage).

It's also interesting that it seems to be PS4-exclusive. Either Sony is moneyhatting it, or it will appear on other platforms too eventually (hopefully not on Switch though, dat downgrade).

that isn't in game footage clearly, but it has certainly peaked my interest.

monster hunter/souls game it appears to be.

I was chuckling to myself the entire time imagining that the title of the game got changed to PROJECT W O K E for the American release.

Graphics look good, I like the concept of the lizard crawling around on geometry above you. The knight "falling dramatically" animation is a pathetic attempt at trying to capture Dark Souls gravitas (it didn't work).

The combat peaked my interest. Looks fast and fluid. I also liked the animation for the dragon in how it looked like it was stalking its prey, glaring at the guy.

People are really hiped by this..? What the fuck you guys are really in need of some MH/Skyrim wanna be.

Seriously it looked generic, totaly uninspired and empty. Still it was a decent UE4 showcase with a good use of engine premade assets...

Are we really watching the same thing?

There were basically two moving objects on the screen. Notice how the environment was basically dead other than the player and the boss. It's possible.

Spider-Man just came out and people still underestimate what a developer can do when they focus on one platform - the PS4 at that?

Yeah I know Spider-Man is looking good, in fact I forgot it will probably run at 30fps, but still...

Spiderman looks great and all but come on now. It's nowhere near this graphically or when it comes to the physics and animation quality being shown here.

This looks like it's either next gen, running on a high end PC that is exponentially more powerful than even the PS4 Pro or going to be gutted on a technical level to get it running even moderately well.
