Yoko's been a NGE fanboy for years, so of course he'd take the offer.
I would imagine that the scripts will be finalized well in advance of the animation and edit being completed so I wouldn't write him off working on a game also.
To be (no pun) honest I'd expect Taura to run the next Nier project with Yoko mainly consulting. Okabe can certainly run multiple projects as he's got plenty of quality musicians at Monaca, which leaves Saito and I'm sure he'd want to do one more before retirement.
Its funny to me how people don't seem to factor in the level of commitment needed to direct a game; its basically minimum 3 years of full-time focus which is one hell of an ask once you get past 50.

Nier aside... I love Evangelion (not original, after they completely fucked up the last few episodes and killed everyone for no fuckin' reason other than just because). But why? It's over narratively, there were 4 new movies to completely fix and expand the original and it took them years to make it happen! Uh... man, just leave it alone, please.
