Project Scorpio to be shown off next week according to Jez C... (READ MOD POST)

Xbox PR should just unleash Phil and let him unveil everything on Twitter.

There won't be any Scorpio exclusives guys...there's zero chance. Scorpio install base will be too small for that compared to the OG and the S. Games will be released for the 3 until Xbox Two comes in around 3 years.

I say again this makes no sense. The Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 require some of the most beefy PCs to run at their highest options, they are not being held back by working on XB1, PS4 or lower end PCs.

Exactly. There isn't that big a basic technological gap between xb1, PS4 and high end PCs where a higher performing console would be greatly held back.

It isn't like red dead redemption 2 is having to support ps1 or og Xbox. XB1 and PS4, at their core, have the basic technological chops for the games being made today, even if they can't run them as well as more capable systems.

The original name of Xbox was X-Box, as you can see in this slide from the unveiling at GDC 2000:

One of the working names included Direct Xbox (or X-Box). Xbox Direct, that doesn't sound too bad but it would have to be connected to a feature that makes sense to use that word with.

PC: Ultra

One: Low everthing

FH3 players on PC at 60fps can play Xbox One players at 30fps?

Not saying they will between the two consoles but can we really rule it out?

BF1 doesn't hit 60fps much either but the Pro plays it much better.
There's already forced fps parity for cross play mp.

IN FH3 it caps to 30, and for ki it forces you to run at 60fps in order to play with console.

It's very likely it will be the same with Scorpio.

You really should be thinking of this thing as a mid-generation upgrade, not a console onto itself. That has never been what the Scorpio is.

Throughout 2016 the messaging at Xbox has been about moving "beyond generations." The people at MS and Xbox have never labeled Scorpio as a mid-generation upgrade, nor have they said it's a new generation.

With MS using this type of messaging, why are people so determined to place a generational label on Scorpio? I believe MS's firm generations no longer apply to future Xbox products, I think Scorpio is neither a mid-gen performance boost nor a new generation. My prediction is that when the follow up to Scorpio is released, mandatory support the base Xbox One will end, with the main Xbox products at that time being Scorpio (low end) and Scorpio 2 (high end), with the pattern continuing when/if a Scorpio 3 releases.

Nintendo and Playstation will likely continue with their rigid and structured generations. When PS5 comes out it will be a new generation, with it's own library of games that won't be playable on the PS4 Pro. That's not what Xbox is doing.

The rumor that DF got the exclusive for the specs makes me believe it isn't Zen. I feel like if it was Zen they wouldn't let an outlet announce it.

But then again maybe they gave it to DF because they understand the significance be off what an upgrade to 4k with Zen would be.

Come onnnnn Thursday.

There will be cross generation games, and all games from this generation will play and work on the next hardware unless it's some drastic change in architecture. Everything on your PS4 OR PS4 pro will work on it. That's the only positive of these mid gen refreshes is that it makes it so what ever they have in their new gen boxes it will be of similar architecture and structure. Since most deals for hardware manufacturing are done with multiple skews in that deal.

I forsee some kind of apu or ryzen based cpu with a suped up polaris or custom polaris type gpu that uses hbm2.

Call me ignorant, but I really don't follow DF that much. How often are they "given" something new to cover like this? I'm convinced we have news on Thursday, but my brain can't compute that MS gave them information to reveal.

I would say it's fair to say they are probably the defacto place for pixel counting. They are the name I hear the most.

So it sort of makes sense since Scorpio is going for True 4K they want them to talk about Scoprio. But giving them the concrete details about the specs would be the first major scoop for DF I believe .

Got it! I'll remain skeptical then. I definitely trust the content that DF puts out, but I just don't know if I can see Microsoft reaching out to them to formally announce something. Though it would be pretty neat on their end considering DF has talked details on Scorpio before.

The marketing executive of Microsoft Brazil has tested the Scorpio last week it seems, and the channel Inside Xbox on Brazil also has a international interview about Scorpio this week

https://twitter.com/nelsonalvesjr/status/847194090521481217

"Dude, everytime @onorathi leaves a message on the Inside group it's a bomb, and he doesn't let me spread the news"

https://twitter.com/onorathi/status/847197840048771072

So he replies as the hype is real and a Scorpio symbol

https://twitter.com/nelsonalvesjr/status/848692557370589184

"@onorathi has tested the monster this week and we have a new Inside, coincidence?"

I know it's all but confirmed now, but it's always nice to see more people talking about it.

I love the name Xbox One X.

Did anyone have that in any thread yet?

I'm surprised I hadn't seen that idea before, especially because win10/winX, clever.

When the guy on the eurogamer panel mentioned people experimenting with running Ryzen at low power and getting good results, anyone know who or what was he talking about?

Watch DF put up an article fully detailing the specs this Thursday without any teases or an announcement from MS themselves. It's all a bit unusual, isn't it? That's why I'm more and more expecting that it won't be having Ryzen tech. That in itself would be much more hype/brag worthy.

And some were thinking MS went to DF on purpose to prove them wrong about having Jaguar in there but nah, I don't think that's the case here.

As pointed out by others and your feelings DF is the perfect place to announce the technical specs. People who are going to be interested in the Scorpio are the type who go to digital foundry. Since DF is so trusted if they give a thumbs up it makes Phil's job that much easier to sell this thing. If MS did it or ign people would be thinking it is all pr speak.

I'm curious as to the size of the thing. The PS4 Pro is already pretty large, I wonder if they managed to come in around the same size.

I'm pretty sure it's going to resemble to One-S in appearance. Just larger. Maybe a different color.

I'd rather them make the unit quiet just like the S and One before than worry too much on sizing. Since it'll have an internal PSU, I am sure it'll be larger than the S but hopefully not too much so.

I hope they keep the design of Xbox One S. Keep the big fan placement so it won't run as loud as my Pro. Everytime I play a game that pushes my Pro hard it gets so loud that my wife even comments on it lol.
