Is there a way to repair burn-in on a projection television by yourself? If not, who would one call to repair this problem and any rough estimate on how much it would cost?

Depends on how severe it is and how long it's been present. There are basically a couple things you can try:

1) Watch different programming for a while. This is most easily done with a non-letterboxed DVD, since you don't have to worry about channel logos.

2) Make a computer image that's the inverse of your burn-in pattern and run that for a while.

How visible is the burn-in? If you can only see it with a solid background like a white screen, you have a good chance of being able to fix it. If you can see it on normal programming, you might be SOL...

This is on a friend's rear projection HDTV and he was asking me how to fix it. I thought there was no way to fix it so I went to GAF for answers.

To answer your questions, the burn in is of a logo from some satellite channel that he watches a lot. The burn-in has probably been there for over a year now and it is somewhat visible over normal programming and is easily seen on a white background.

Is there really no way to fix this or is the repair cost prohibitive?
