The 160 is like 13 a month if you can't afford that I dunno what else to tell ya. That's not that expensive.
Not entirely true. Almost every recent port I can think of has been a disaster and the only reason some people get a playable game is because they brute-force it with top of the line hardware. They normally perform better than these consoles and the investment lasts for years. You don't need to buy a pro console upgrade every 3 years and also pay 120 dollars a year to play online and rent free games.
I think to really show them how much you are really annoyed about this you should phone them up directly and tell them to cancel the subscription right now.In 2026, my sub will lapse and I will not renew it.
Get wrecked Sony
They might try but no way in hell will any PC players put up with it.You think they'll ever try to make PS+ a requirement for playing the PC versions online or cross-play?
To be honest I perfectly agree. The thing is they added no value to explain this increase. Big discounts on 1st party games, even on day one, trials versions of 1st party games, more games, full backcompat of PS2 games via streaming etc, anything would do.The 160 is like 13 a month if you can't afford that I dunno what else to tell ya. That's not that expensive.
just look now everyone is paying premium edition that cost $40 more of games to have a few days of early accessI think it's a different situation. This price increase will make many people actually reevaluate if they need PS+, especially if they play singleplayer games. It doesn't have to be an empty statement or a rash decision you'll regret 5 minutes later.
I like how PC community compare themselves as rebels, as the last warriors standing against capitalism, when they accepted to go to a "digital only" model with open arms (or asshole?) almost 2 decades ago, buying games they can't sell, etc. They might try but no way in hell will any PC players put up with it.
Majority doesn’t have to care. Even if a small percentage decides to go a tier lower or stop subscribing all together; Sony will feel it.just look now everyone is paying premium edition that cost $40 more of games to have a few days of early access
majority won't care
Online gaming on consoles should be free.
Not "free", but free.
One of the greatest long running scams in the industry.
Can't disagree. And I say that as a staunch console gamer for thirty years.
Seriously considering my next gaming purchase to be a PC for couch play. The consoles (other than the Switch) really are beginning to seem more and more pointless as this generation unfolds.
And to be fair, who continues to play their years old saves?
Console gamers ares are well accustomed to being gypped, I wonder what they'll do next!Locking cloud saves behind a sub is equally crazy IMO.

My renewal date was Nov 2024. Just added another year for $60, renewal date in 2025 still showing $60...
But they did announce a game! The price increase was mentioned waaaay at the bottom of their webpage announcing that Saints Row is the free game of the month!Good. Announce some fucking games and fuck off with the silence before you obnoxiously raise your price for no reason.
I guess you forgot the part where we paid $500/650 for the console. The 160 is like 13 a month if you can't afford that I dunno what else to tell ya. That's not that expensive.
don't worry consoles will go there too. and honestly there's not much wrong with being digital only. anyway, PC is cheaper. if I had an Xbox i'd be paying £70 for the standard Starfield or £100 for premium. I bought Premium for £64 on PC. So any money I'd have got back from selling the game I've already saved.I like how PC community compare themselves as rebels, as the last warriors standing against capitalism, when they accepted to go to a "digital only" model with open arms (or asshole?) almost 2 decades ago, buying games they can't sell, etc.
(I've almost 900 games on steam ok but I am not pretending anything)
As much as I hate to say this, Sony doesn't give a fuck about losing a few subscribers. Their stock just went up.
Sony Gains Most Since July After PlayStation Gaming Price Hike
Sony Group Corp. rose its most in more than a month after hiking the price of its core gaming PlayStation Plus subscription service by roughly a third, potentially shoring up its bottom line.www.bloomberg.com
Pretty sure they are prepared for that. Lose say 10% of subs but hike prices 30%.Canceled mines and know of at least 2 others that Canceled there's as well. Would be hilarious if Sony ends up losing 10% (or more) of subs over this bone head decision.
One big reason digital was accepted is due to how Steam Keys in particular (but mostly similar for GoG and say EA Play) can be purchased in multiple stores. Hence you have competition.I like how PC community compare themselves as rebels, as the last warriors standing against capitalism, when they accepted to go to a "digital only" model with open arms (or asshole?) almost 2 decades ago, buying games they can't sell, etc.

Once against I'm not against PC gaming (hell I played 25 years on PC, I have 900 games on Steam) but I always thought it's funny this "huh, it won't pass on PC" when they accepted one of the biggest shift in the history of video games consumption.don't worry consoles will go there too. and honestly there's not much wrong with being digital only. anyway, PC is cheaper. if I had an Xbox i'd be paying £70 for the standard Starfield or £100 for premium. At least on PC you have multiple stores so there is actual competition and no matter what store you use you don't need to pay for cloud storage, online, crossplay, etc.
i'm not saying PC gamers are "rebels" lol but the PC community definitely puts up with less bullshit. We have standards. Console players are told £70 for a game and you need to sub if you want to play online and they are happy with it. For anyone who wants to stand up against it.... the time to do that was 15 years ago. Too late!
Different stores as you have dozens of shops selling Steam keys for different prices. Developers can generate keys for free. That's why nobody minds digital with Steam, plus great options for overall platform.Once against I'm not against PC gaming (hell I played 25 years on PC, I have 900 games on Steam) but I always thought it's funny this "huh, it won't pass on PC" when they accepted one of the biggest shift in the history of video games consumption.
I know console gaming will go there too.
About different stores yes but look how many (most of ?) PC gamers always have boycotted other stores just because they want everything at the same place : STEAM. The only other store that is successful is the Battle.net launcher since it's the only place to play those games (same goes with LoL / Fortnite etc).
As for paying to play online... Well personally I would not pay to play online, I pay a sub for GPU because of the games and on PS since the PS+ exists, you have games (GOOD games) monthly and this is why I subbed to that.
Edit:Pretty sure they are prepared for that. Lose say 10% of subs but hike prices 30%.
