PS2 controller problem

It's like some unknown force is doing its best to prevent me from enjoying my gaming, or more specifically preventing me from ever getting far in San Andreas. First, my TV's audio failed, leaving with no choice but to buy a new TV. That was 3 days after the release of GTASA, or 2 days after I got it. Now that this problem is solved, I keep getting my gameplay interrupted by a message telling me to plug in my controller in port one. As if it wasn't there you dumb Sony piece of shit. I hope it's just my controller, but this is getting really annoying. I'm gonna have to punish my PS2 and play my GC and XB exclusively from now on if it doesn't agree with me.

*grumbles*

I've seen this happen on a couple ps2 systems (non slim) including my own. I'm putting it down to bad contact - plugs might need cleaning..but other than that I have no idea. Hasnt happened in a while.

Seen it happen on GTA:SA and Burnout 3

My dualshock has litterally gone to hell and more, but it's still alive and kicking. I get that message rarely, but when i do get it I just re-connect the controller and it'll work like a charm again.

Take some canned air to the controller and the controller port. That normally fixes the problem. Mine was a bit more severe and I had to open up my system and undo the controller/memory card ports and use the canned air on them but I got them working. It would do it over and over again in WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain. So dust could also be the problem. I have a version 4 GT3 Racing Pack system and it's still going strong after I opened it up and cleaned a few areas of it. :D
