PS2 PAL Street Fighter Anniversary Collection question...

I've been searching the net for this game, but all I can find is the xbox version. Was SF:AC never released for PS2 in Europe? It sure as hell was announced at the same time as the xbox version...

I need the PS2 pad for this game damnit :(

Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition was released 05/28/2004 on PS2, wheras SF:AC for xbox was released 10/29/2004.

Missing SFIII: Third Strike, and bearing a different name, that can't be the same game?

Several online shops are are also listing the PS2 version of Anniversary Collection, but the xbox version is the only one you can buy...

Edit: I have no problem finding HSFII:TAE, but that's not the game I want. I want Third Strike damnit

Edit II: Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary edition was released 12/18/2003 in the US, so it's not the same game as Street Fighter Anniversary Collection...

*head explodes*

I know. I remember one magazine saying it was worth it because the movie makes up for the lack of SF3 :lol (now that's spin at its finest!)

Oh snap >_<

Well, thanks for the clarification.

Are you getting the info from gamefaqs? There is no HSF2:TAE for PS2 in the US...only SFAC.

My bad, I looked at the japanese release date.

Yup, I think it got it all figured out now. Damn you Capcom.

I'll just buy it for xbox instead then.

Btw, is there an adapter which lets me play with my PS2 pad on the xbox?

I checked Lik-sang, but could only find and xbox-to-PS2 adapter...

Yeah, there are adapters. Don't know how well they work but they're all over Ebay.

In Japan they didn't have the two games as a collection. Hyper came out first and then 3rd Strike later. Europe got Hyper before 3rd Strike was out on PS2 while the US got nothing until later. I guess by the time 3S was out they didn't feel it was worth selling on it's own so they put them together for Xbox like they had in the US.

I guess it is, but this means there isn't a single version of Street Fighter 3 for PS2 for Europeans? That really sucks.

Yeah, just shows sometimes it's worth waiting and that these 2D fighter bundles are a good thing.

Hyper's AI is a joke compared to ST arcade. Blanka's bite taking over half your life is so much fun!

Hyper has the fucking worst cheating AI ever. You almost have to play against someone else to have any fun with it.

This is 100% true. It isn't even fun to play against the CPU.

So true...I didn't mention that though because I thought I might be called a pussy :lol

What pissed me off so much is that I so wanted to play proper Street Fighter on my PS2 with my Hori stick. It worked beautifully with SF2 but the game is so hard that it's just no fun. This could have been THE game to get me back into proper, serious 2D fighting, but it never happened

And to piss on my bonfire even more, I bought the Xbox SF3 and loved it, but I couldn't play it with the pad. It's far more fairer but it means playing with a control pad instead of a Hori stick. Boo-urns!

Don't worry about being called a pussy. Why is it bad to complain when the computer walks forward with Blanka and then suddenly does his rolling ball special (which requires you to move backwards)? Why is it bad to complain that they do twice as much damage as you? Blah blah blah blah blah, it sucks. I just wanna see Akuma (have to get to Bison without losing a round) but I just can't do it.

Yeah, it's a bit much. I have to keep remembering to have my jabs ready when fighting Blanka. As for getting to Akuma, for me, I might as well forget it.

I just wanna see Akuma pop in and kill Bison because that's what happened in the canon storyline. The "thought" is that Guile beats Bison (who is significantly weaker than in Alpha because he's in a new body), and after he wins and lets Bison lives, Akuma comes in, judges him unworthy and just Raging Demon him to hell. Bison over.

At least I think that's how it goes, Capcom has REALLY gotta set straight the storylines for 2 and 3.

Capcom and a straight storyline for Street Fighter?! Ha! There is so many inconsistancies, plotholes, so many characters, it's all a jarbled mess. I think Capcom is just going with flow and "writing" and "filling" along the way with disregards to consistancy. At this point, I don't blame them, it's a mess.

Yeah but I like knowing little things. Like in the Second Impact tournament, Ryu faced Hugo, hit him with the Shin-ShoRyuKen (which is a hugely powerful move), and Hugo fucking got up like it did nothing to him, shocking the fuck out of everyone seeing the battle. Later on, Oro beat Ryu without having to use his second arm at all. I like knowing little things like that. If I knew flash I'd make a 3rd Strike sprite movie chronicalling those events.

I've gotten to Akuma in Hyper. It's not that bad. ST arcade is another story. To make it quick and easy you can just set it to one round battles and beat the game in like 5 minutes. Just do Honda's splash and tick throw into the command throw.

The easiest way to get to Akuma is to play ST on PSX/Saturn. The AI is easy.

Why is the nuby SFA controller so bad? You can't even do moves on it. Isn't the whole point of a SF controller to make playing SF easier?

Would I need to do this on the hardest difficulty without losing a round?

Hehe, I know I'm a pussy at SF2 anyway :D No point arguing about it or lying to cover myself. I'm crap at the game. I'm decent at 2D fighters in general (SF Alpha 3, SF3, and most other Capcom fighters) but SF2, for some reason, just seems beyond me

Which is why I wanted to learn but the difficulty is absurd. First time I played the PS2 version - first round, normal difficulty...I got owned two rounds in a row :lol The game is just so unfairly difficult that it's unplayable to almost everyone

I just want a SF2 game that is fair, even, and won't take all the fun out of learning to play :(

Wow... and I thought I was the only one who had problems with Hyper.

I can't speak for everyone, but when I set a game at 0 difficulty, I was a super easy game. Period.

At the very least Capcom is releasing SF2, World Warrior, Champion Edition, and Hyper Fighting on that upcoming compilation.
