PS2 Wireless Network-- Hook me up!

Ok, I am getting tired of either having my PC online-- OR-- My PS2....
I have PPOE Dsl, and my Comp is on 3rd floor, and my PS2 is in basement. I could run a long ass cable through the house... but.. no..

Here is my current set up:

3rd Floor PC:
Phone---Dsl modem--PC

Basement:
Phone---Dsl modem--PS2

The PC modem would be the one I toss, if a wireless network can be established, for it needs the PC to initialize. The PS2 modem (speedstreem 5600) is a "standalone" model that will access the net all on it's own (user/password--dial 1,32).

The rub is this...
I have a 2.4ghz phone system in my house (Panasonic, 5 phones), and I know that the wireless junk is all 2.4ghz, right?
Can I even use it then? Will the phone/network fuck with eachother?

If it *will* work, please advise on product and set up.
Thanks.
:)

Get an access point and one of these:

You might have to upgrade your 2.4ghz phones to 5.8s to lessen the chance of intereference.

I don't know about this particular product, but my uncle has the Linksys Wireless B gaming adapter and the thing is a fucking piece of shit. He has to unplug it and plug it back in every time he uses his Xbox and wants to get online.

This is what he has, and it blows

I'm not really happy with Linksys these days either. I've had plenty of problems with other devices. I do have 2 WAPs that have worked perfectly since day one, but I have had 2 routers of theirs die on me now.

I have the Wireless G that I linked to and it works wonders for me. I've had it over 4-5 months now and I dont think i've ever unplugged the thing. I've heard it causes problems if you have a different brand AP tho so if you go with it go with a Linksys brand AP just to be on the safe side.

edit: Yeah that thing (Wireless B) does blow. The range is terrible. I tried that one before getting the one I linked to and had ZERO succes setting it up. Stay far away from that thing.

Beware if your upgrading your cordless phone. Not all advertised phones are true 5.8ghz, look them up first

I have a wireless access point and 2.4 Ghz phone at my place, and while on the phone, the wireless network doesn't work properly. I've tried messing with the channel settings to see if I could get them to cooperate with one another, but to no avail, so yes, you'll have problems is someone is on the phone at the same time as you're using the wireless network, although you may be able to move the access point to a spot where it may not be an issue for you.

I just got D-Link's 108mb wireless a/b/g gaming adaptor which I use with my similarly specced router in "a" mode, and though I've only tried it with Xbox so far, it seems like a real pain and that I have to set it up each time I want to go online in Xbox Live setup.

My D-Link wireless experience in general has been pretty iffy.

I'd like to add two things about this:

1 - I know three other people with the same Wireless-B Game Adapter from Linksys. It is indeed a total piece of garbage. It drops out ALL THE TIME. Plus its ugly.

2 - I bought the Linksys Wireless-G Game Adapter , and it KICKS ASS. Very fast, never drops out, doesnt get any interference from any of my other 2.4Ghz devices (and I have a lot of wireless stuff in the house). I have a Linksys Wirless-G Access Point as well, so I don't know if it works as well with another brand. I use this adapter an access point on my Xbox for system link, live, and when its modded, streaming divx movies from my server in the basement. It works like a charm!

I know this may not be a good solution for you monetarily Kung Fu Jedi, but you might want to consider getting a 5.8 GHz phone.

I love this set that we got for home (it's kinda pricey though)

I've had many different phones over the years, and Panasonics have always seemed to be the best for me.

Thanks Doc! Those look nice. Yeah, I've been looking to upgrade the phone system in my place to avoid problems. I'm moving in the next few months, so I may wait to do it then. Right now, I just try to avoid using both at the same time, which isn't a major deal, but causes my gf more grief than me. :D

Hmmm.. Thanks for the ideas.

Yeah, I have the panny (older version) 2.4ghz and love it also.

Maybe ill try the LinksysG and if there are issues I'll have an excuse to upgrade my phones to 5.8 (x4 handsets gonna kill me though).
