It's a third party pad. Look at the PS symbols. They've had to "change" them so not to "copy" the official ones.

edit - I see it now. I don't think it's anything significant, there's certainly no reason to believe it's the PS3 controller.

Yeah, one button is usually assinged for that. But it does say Turbo Off on the right. I'm assuming the matching button on the left is "on". It looks like a generic pad, any way you cut it.

It's probably not fake, its just not Sony's controller for it. There isn't even a PS logo on it, which you can be sure will be on Sony's (which 3rd parties don't).

I'm fairly sure you'll be able to play with the controller wired to the system, even if there isn't an explicitly wired version (you'll need a wire to connect it to a usb port for charging). Not that that says anything about the validity of this as an official controller, I think it's safe to say it's not.

i agree, even though it was essentially the same thing we've been holding since '95. but this picture looks like its the same ol' dual shock as well.

That's just some random 3rd party pad, that looks like a Logitech logo in the middle that's been poorly covered up. I don't mind boomerang shape, that's a decent design the labs of Bruce Wayne have produced. What I do mind is the continued poor placement of the analog sticks directly beside each other. Makes playing FPS on a Sony console a PITA.
