PS3 Cell Demo Vid

Impressive. Not about graphics, but the *advanced* usage of eyetoy: is this thing real/possilbe? It has to extrapolate 3d coordinates from the photgrams and then apply 3d models on it... the TGS demo was made with colored glasses, much easier on a computational level.

It reads 500 points on the face 100 times a second, apparently. The modelling is some image-based renderer, I guess...it's hard to know exactly what it's doing. The rendering tech is probably similar to Sony's "magic mirror" tech reported earlier, but of course this seems more advanced (the Sony stuff didn't have realtime motion capture for facial expression).
 
This would be awesome to use, using your own face as an avatar with all sorts of stuff added on it, in realtime! Only thing left is the addition of a background, and perhaps static, and you got some awesome communication during games. By the looks of it, it should be doable.
