Where is the Redbull space? If they're giving us the Diesel store today etc. then surely we're getting the Redbull space too, no? :|

I can't believe my Namco items have disappeared. One of the few bits of Home I like is the item unlocking, but then they steal it all away :( :( >:(

edit - they've added the first 'mask' too for totally changing your appearance..a snowman mask..99 cents...

So do we have a place where we keep track of changes and additions?

Theres new clothes, new shoes and sunglasses. More furniture in some categories, and more decorations. Theres a Home rep modeling the clothes in the upstairs of the mall.

Theres several beards.

Theres winter weather and a Xmas tree in the Japan plaza, and a blimp flying around.

The Namco and all other reward items have dissapeared from inventories.

There's new ads everywhere. A lot for the chatpad.

Theres less lag and it loads much faster upfront, and a few seconds faster here and there between spaces.

And it seems we have to redownload some of the spaces...

Finally beards

Hmm, it seems on the official forums people are managing to get their items back by going to the wardrobe in the biwling alley, and before visiting the store...

I hate the way all the 'suit' stuff is sold seperately..so to get all the santa stuff is like $3. They nickel and dime you while nickel and diming you!

Does anyone know if the..uh..barbecue actually does anything? Is it an appliance or just a static object? I can't really think of what it'd do that's useful mind you :lol

That's pretty random..I've already visited the store now too :| I'll try going to the wardrobe in the bowling alley though.

Just gone back to my house..all my cabinets...gone :*( Geez, the whole idea of having a home really is even more facking pointless without game-rewarded items.

edit - also, the Diesel store isn't on the US mall..at least not yet..

It would be cool if you could activate it and it had a sizzling sound and smoke. Then I would consider getting it.

The shelves in the store, the brown ones, arent those the ones we got for free in the beta? I think those disappeared from my inventory and went back to the store. And this one lamp I keep trying to put on a table disappears every time I log off...

They really need to get useful, or at least somewhat scripted objects in there.

That little trick to get back namco stuff didn't work for me.

Now I know how everyone else felt wrt Home without item unlocks :( They need to fix that shit stat. I wonder if it's at all linked to the fact that I seem to have redownload spaces every time there is a version update. A version update shouldn't be so invasive, this should never have been released until they knew for sure that the integrity of your data was assured between updates.

I know it's a beta..but..come on..

This saddens me.

I can't stop what people do with their money, but come on......

I am willing to pay a couple of bucks for a nice slim dark gray suit with a white shirt and black tie. Then that will be my outfit for the rest of Home's life aside from free items.

That said, are clothes shareable in any way?

The Ligne Roset store on EU Home has a free chair.. even Ligne Roset isn't as scroungy as Sony :lol Mind you, the other two available chairs are €2 each..

edit - there's a lovely table there too for free...others are again €2.

Hmm, Home JPN got the best update..lots of cool game-themed stuff added to the store (albeit none of it's free, and I would prefer to see those items gifted as game rewards), and a new Namco Bandai space. The main plaza is nicely Xmas themed now too.

And people say SCEJ is the problem with Home? I don't think so. They seem to have embraced it more quickly than the other regions..most notably they've attracted the most third party game dev involvement at this stage (Namco with Namco Museum beta and the store items & space today, + Nippon Ichi etc.).

(edit - they could do with sprucing up the Xmas tree in the central area though..it's awfully recessionary as is).

This is what's under the cloth, underneath the screening area:

(Took a bit of camera manipulation)

It's like the Home version of booth-snooping prior to E3 or something :p Anyone know what that stuff is? The sign might illuminate, but not knowing japanese..

Looks a little like the GT5 driving booths...

HOME, the first MMO service where features are taken away instead of being added...

HOME regressing one feature at a time...

Run Namco legends again and go back into Home, you'll get your stuff back. Just worked for me :D

Ahh...this seems to have worked. At least, I take it that it's worked by the avalance of new item pop-ups in Home..

Cheers!!

Anyone know if we can get the echochrome etc. stuff back?

edit - cool, they're back in my home as well..i was worried I'd have to place them down again.

no, theres 3 male tops in Diesel free btw and 1 female. 1 table and 1 chair in the new furniture place too.

I noticed the free furniture, expected all the diesel stuff was paid for..shame those stores aren't on US home yet..

Bigger shame that the redbull space doesn't seem to be coming this week at all.

There's an interview with the Home team in the latest issue of Develop magazine:

http://www.developmag.com/print-edition?_login=true

It's their cover story.

There are things they say that worry me, and things that interest me.

The worrying bits are that they reinforce that Home is an optional thing to engage in for developers. There are different levels of engagement for developers, but they're all optional.

Doesn't sound like there's any notion in their heads to make things like game launching or item rewards mandatory :|

They totally need a policy change on that, ASAP, if Home is to be valuable. If they're keeping it optional to avoid annoying developers who're reluctant, then they're doing a bad job of evangelising to devs. They should make those two things mandatory and work aggressively to get developers onside.

One of the more positive things mentioned is that they're looking to remove the requirement that you're a licensed PS3 developer for making the lua-scripted mini-games in Home. It sounds like there is a SDK there. They say currently you have to be a licensed PS3 dev, but they're looking to see if they can remove that requirement.

So fingers crossed for that..

One quirky thing mentioned is that they found "weapon pickup code" tucked away in the Home code recently - a legacy of its origins as a lobby system for the getaway on PS2. I'm sure some might wish they'd keep and expand upon that :p

I downloaded home yesterday not expecting much but it's surprisingly cool

Obviously a huge marketing tool but still (kind of) cool but it seems like all of you hate it or just how Sony are (or aren't) handling the whole thing

Where's my half tuck shirt?!

Shouldn't Sony get people interested in Home first before trying to nickle and dime everything? :lol

You would think, but it seems that's the modus operandi for most games on ps3.. nickel and dime quickly dwindling user bases. (warhawk, mgo, home)

Nope

Those should be MANDATORY like Trophies. They don't strike me as anything particularily complex.

Voice chat should be friends only unless you're in your personal space IMHO. I don't need to hear strangers as I run around.

Like trophies, they may become mandatory at some point down the line, but not now.

As to chat, I think it was a smart move to remove it and allow private only. It was more obnoxious than I expected to hear people blasting their music via headset or harassing others.

Yes I was comparing it to trophies, they need to make those mandatory ASAP and patch whatever they can.

And maybe start throwing out suspensions or bans to clean up the service.

why do you have to redownload the locations after every update, shit is just stupid. WTF!

they clearly have to fix that. They should just have the update DL all the normal places so when you boot it u, you dont have to wait to DL other crap.

This isn't really the right mentality. I work on an MMO and we find that once we get users to commit their money, they basically become committed and dedicated to the game.

It's a tricky issue -- chicken-and-egg, but charging before red hot interest is OK, as long as expectations and strategy are in place.

Charging for the holiday theme stuff is ridiculously cheap. The Santa outfit is what...$4 or $5? Another buck if you want a Christmas tree, and another for a snowman? For your HOUSE?

Making that stuff free would have gotten them some goodwill. Absolutely retarded idea to nickel and dime for that - and splitting it all up into individual items so they can piecemeal it out.

Easy fix - assuming they're going to keep requiring you to download everything again. Add a 'Download all' option. I'd rather hit one button to queue up everything than have to go through the list one by one.

Yes, you speak the truth.

Separating the interested from the uninterested is very useful sometimes.

Well... they can give some freebies to all users. Doesn't mean they can't charge for some though. It's a delicate balance they need to make.

I understand what you are saying but I think Home currently simply doesn't offer enough content to keep most of the people interested in going back regularly, and the obvious nickle and diming the users when most of them already have little interest in using Home, imo, builds up negative stigma. In the case of MMO, there are other reasons to go back into the game. Currently, there are very little reasons to go back to Home. And if there are nobody to show off your cool wardrobes to, there's no point in purchasing them.

Namco Museum is an awesome way of trying to get money out of the users. People see the arcade cabinets and want to play the games, they would have to buy the actual game for the cabinet to function. Not only does it give incentives for people to playing Namco Museum, it advertises itself in Home space.

Even if they want to nickle and dime the users, I think the current price structure is ridiculous. They need to halve the prices of current stuff and use the current prices for branded, special items.
