PS3 Home Official Thread

I haven't logged on in ages, but I'll definitely be logging on starting tonight. If Watchmen costumes are going to be available, that'll be really cool. Also, the new spaces will be neat to see as I really liked the Uncharted one.

Kinda offtopic.. but can anybody tell me what the max resolutions are for PS3 background pics. Everytime i upload a 2560x1600 pic from IFL (for example) with tversity, it says "file corrupted" or something like that.

I searched but no luck, appreciate if someone could help me.

try to put it in a USB drive and see if PS3 can read it. Might be Tversity. Maybe its a format it cant read?

Downloading the room now.
The download screen shows "Game Launch". This confirmed to work?

Of course... I also sold Warhawk a while ago. lol.

Why do I have to constantly re-download spaces? I've already been in the bowling/arcade/pool area many times, and I keep having to re-download it.

Agreed, It's the one big flaw I find with Home, surely they could of found way around this.

I wish that the number one priority for Home would be implementation of game launching for all titles. It's been nearly two month and we can still only launch Warhawk from Home. Even if it's something that needs to be patched in on the developers' end I wish Sony would send out their Home team to hand hold the devs during the process.

Yep, there is no real reason to be in home unless you like dancing and buying shit.

The spaces are regularly updated, thus requiring a new download every time they're updated.
I guess you play Home sporadically enough to get a new download each time?

Think of each space as a webpage. Everytime a webpage is updated you have to redownload it. It's not like the rooms are huge. 20Mb download should take less then a minute. I think as HOME improves they will be updating the core spaces less and less.

More annoyed than mad, I expected home to be the hub of all my ps3 social gaming.. but I log in about twice a month now. All they have focused on are worthless game spaces and lounges along with over priced virtual items (and not getting in the cool ones like picture frames/radios/tvs).. so I'll probably be a Home "troll" for the near future, until they show GAMERS why they should log into home.

I'm only kidding man. I think Home is a joke, the only really cool thing so far for me was being able to win the Ninja contest. I probably won't use Home until RE5 releases, since I believe RE5 will support Home game launching out of the box.

Also, if Sony continues to have cool promotions like the Ninja contest, I will participate more.

Yea I know you didn't mean any thing, but I just wanted to explain my rationale so no one thinks I am just mindlessly hating on Home.

The ninja thing was a cool idea though, so they get points for doing stuff like that.

The space looks great and game launching is pretty neat, for some reason was not expecting to be able to walk around like normal when waiting for others to join:D

The Street Fighter avatars looks good also, I want the Guile stuff.

I turned Home on after 3 months, and it hasn't changed much. And what's with the theater? Does it work or not?

Same, I'm in the UK so Home is basically identical to several months before it even went live. We don't even have the Uncharted space for christ sake, what on Earth is stopping it from being released here?

I'm really beginning to despair about Home now. They seem to be updating the US and Japan Home's at a reasonably slow pace and European updates are completely non-existent. Whatever happened to this being an ever evolving piece of software? If it weren't for the miniature updates Japan and the US have seen (mostly being money-grab, ridiculously overpriced DLC outfits) I'd say that development had stagnated and Home has become abandonware.

little question: is the warhwak game launching only possible in the warhawk home space?

when i was in the closed beta i could launch every single game from home (obviously only warhawk gave you the possibility to create a match within home, the other simply let you jump in it)

Between the Homelings, Afroboys and Frostie's Army, Home is being overrun by gangs which sucks when some of us just want to virtually dance without being all competitive and stuff.

You can launch it from anywhere in Home.

Was the recent update supposed to fix the stuttering/framerate/load issues you get every time you enter a space?

It still takes forever to load up and go from one space to another.

It will. + rewards to get for Home by playing the game.

Users will be able to launch Resident Evil 5 game from PlayStation Home from anywhere within PlayStation Home, by simply selecting it from the menu pad, and enjoy “Co-op play” along with their friends or with other users on-line. This feature will be supported concurrently with the release of the game. PlayStation Home will also support game launch for STREET FIGHTER IV, but this feature will not become available simultaneously with the disc release, but at a later timing through STREET FIGHTER IV software update. Details will be announced in the PlayStation Home official website (http://asia.playstation.com/home) as they become available.

Additionally, both titles will support Home Rewards feature. This feature will become available for Resident Evil 5 concurrently with the release of the game, and also become available for STREET FIGHTER IV through the software update after the release of the game. Users will receive exclusive items for PlayStation Home depending on the playing times/hours, level of their game play, etc. PlayStation Home users will also be able to buy character themed items such as costumes for Guile and Chun-Li from STREET FIGHTER IV and for Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar from Resident Evil 5, and use them to customize their own PlayStation Home avatars. These themed items from both titles will be added to PlayStation Home regularly after the release of each game.

the recent update was to fix few bugs and fix the avatar loading glitch where only your pants or shirt would appear and the rest was transparent. Loading between spaces has been ok so far....10-15 seconds to load between, say, the theater and the bowling alley

Oh right thanks, must have missed that.

I still say the engine powering this thing is pretty shitty. There is no good reason why the RedBull area should be chugging frames just by panning the camera. Or the EU home space for that matter (and pretty much everywhere else). I read early on this was due to server/load balancing issues but I doubt it somehow.

It runs fine for me and can pan with no chug. IMO, home looks pretty darn good for what it does and runs good.

Street Fighter IV Q/A
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009...pace-launching/comment-page-2/#comment-186127

and i just bought all the SFIV outfits.....I'm a whore :(

What’s up Home-boys and Home-girls?

We have some über-cool events scheduled for this week that we want to hip you all to. First, we are holding a live Q&A session with John Diamonon and Seth Killian from Capcom today, March 4th. This chat will focus on all things related to Street Fighter IV and will give a few lucky attendees the chance to win a more intimate follow-up Q&A (complete with an SFIV tips and tricks tutorial) in a private clubhouse at a later date.

3328579039_80613db81d.jpg

To participate in the general Q&A, just bring your bad self over to the Gamer’s Lounge today between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00pm PST (10:00 – 11:00pm EST) – and don’t be afraid to show up dressed as your favorite SFIV character! To start, John and Seth will be tackling the most popular questions culled from the official PlayStation Home forums (under the usernames “HIERO9D3” and “clothhand”), but will hold a brief open chat afterwards. These two gents will be “instance-jumping” throughout the event, so if you’re in the Gamer’s Lounge and you don’t see them, cool out and sit tight! They’ll be making the rounds.

To qualify for the private chat, make sure you attend the general Q&A decked out in the Dan Saikyo shirt (unlockable in Home). Attendees sporting this hot reward will be entered into a drawing and then chosen at random to participate. If you make the list, we’ll send you details via private message in your XrossMediaBar regarding the time and date of the follow-up session.

In other news: We’re launching the Resident Evil 5 game space tomorrow, March 5th. So dress yourself up in that free Resident Evil gear available in the Mall, check out the new space, and learn more about the game before it launches later this month. We’ll be looking out for you!

EU Home has been updated. Street Fighter outfits are now available at 79p each part of costume, there's two free Watchmen comics for your apartment along with the Watchman clock. Home square updated with a new game similar to the US one but with Helicopters and balloons. Resident Evil space is now available aswell.

Also the Xi symbol appears next to the waterfall and appears to be a teleport feature but its currently unavailable the same with the man hole cover near the closed gate.

Dear god are they mad, to buy a full sf4 costume it would be £3.20ish dear god.:lol :lol 79p each bit and to make a full costume there are four parts.

Edit: also that watchmen stuff is not available it seems, only the clothings, home square is also still the old one

If anyone pre-ordered Killzone 2 from Amazon.com and got their code for the Killzone 2 HOME avatar clothes and doesn't want to use it could I have it please? Just send me a PM. Thanks!:D

I thought it sucked like the Gamer's Lounge and Far Cry 2, they need some background noise, even Warhawk and Red Bull Air Space could use more background noises.

Also full movies are coming to Home Theater, probably after they add the multiplexer and work out the Streaming movies (which they are testing in EU now btw). Reply to question 42 below:

Finally the Irem Home Space is up in JP, that looks like a fun Home Space with plenty of mini games, I'm trying to figure out how to play those, and they also have robes and stuff for sale in the JP Home now.
