PS3 Home Official Thread

Every time I see that picture I always do a double-take because I think he's flipping off the dragon.

Unlockables, let's see ... Street Fighter IV has quite a few, as do the games in the EA Sports Complex and the Siren space, which was just released today. Oh, there's also Minna De Spelunker, and I'm sure I'm missing a couple of others.

1. Bandwith issues. Cramming sixty people into a space, most of which had voice chat, while listening to streaming music caused a lot of problems.
2. Hate speech, people piping in music and blaring it out there. Huge headaches all around.

Speaking personally, Home is infinitely better without public voice chat. You can still chat with your friends in clubs, personal spaces and the phone feature, so it's not like it's entirely gone.

I think you'll see more from Tekken in the future. Capcom hit it out of the park with their Street Fighter IV costumes (which there are more of on the way), so I don't think it's crazy to assume they'll follow in the same footsteps.

Why is it that we're getting nothing but new items to spend money on but none of the broader things seem to be being updated. Like game launching, watching content, playing our own music even. It's absurd. These were all things that were shown off before Home even game out, why isn't there game launching for Motorstorm even when Phil demoed it at a presentation? If people actually want Home to have anything other than a dwindling userbase then they have to do more than ask us to pay for useless in world items and furniture.

A big update is coming to Home!

I think to myself *Sweet, maybe Game launching for more than 2 games will finally be in?*

Oh it's yet more things for us to buy... joy.

Sorry about the rant... but your groups priorities seem totally out of wack.

WTF they took voice chat away? WHy the hell did they do that and when was it?
You asking that at this point tells me, a)you never were interested in Home b)wouldn't matter if said feature was still available in public..

so why ask in a way like you care? I hate it when users that clearly have no interest in something make it seem like they care. I use Home more than you yet i dont mind voice chat removed from public areas. If I want to voice chat, ill invite friends to my crib/club.

btw, just got my Siren Tshirt which is awesome! Along with something for the apartment.

I don't see why if they can make Trophies mandatory, they can't make game launching mandatory for future releases.

Dare I suggest trophies are mandatory because the XMB team at SCEJ took this under its wing?

I always wondered if there was a certain resistence within SCEJ to letting Home dictate the agenda on PSN functionality because it wasn't "theirs".

You read even about how facking Howard Stringer has problems getting agreement from different factions within Sony. FFS. You're the boss, you TELL them what to do. Similarly, something like Home would benefit from a dictatorial presence that simply got what needed to be done, from a policy POV, done and didn't accept any facking bickering about it.

When Kaz Hirai supposedly took it on as a pet project i.e. seemingly delayed it as part of his own intervention, I figured it'd have all the clout it needed to get the necessary done. WTF was that all about anyway?

But then again, the underlying PSN infrastructure wasn't developed by SCEJ (was developed at SCEA and/or SOE afaik), so I don't know if such 'snobbery' exists there..

What's the over/under on HOME getting any kind of stage time at E3? It was briefly touched on last year, but now that it's on every machine connected to an internet connection, they have to say something don't they?

I doubt you'll see much except wrt the business aspect and how much money it's made or if there are new commercial partnerships to announce.

Not that the thread is particularly FRIENDLY at the moment ... :lol But we just had a really awesome content launch. Here's just about everything that's new in Home today.

- Siren: Blood Curse game space from Japan, with 5 player co-op mini-game.
- Two new apartments: Living Room Stage Set and Log Cabin (first new apartments since open beta began)
- New clothing for Patapon 2, Killzone 2, Tekken (Paul and Heihachi costumes, with wigs!) and huge Diesel Store update.
- Exclusive videos of Fat Princess (lengthy behind-the-scenes with tons of footage) and Patapon 2 (Q&A from our forums)
- New beards!

And a few other secrets for those following Xi.

Ah cool, but they are "just" loose contents. They won't attract large number of casuals and non-gamers to Home or PS3. Sony is MUCH more diligent and responsive now about Home compared to months before. It is not insanely great yet though.

I am at EA Sports Complex now. Some guy here won 60,400 on the Poker table. :)
Will check out the new features.

I dont supposed the Patapon t-shirts are free are they? I often wonder what the breaking point for most Home addicts is. When they look back and theyve spent like £50 on digital clothing?

Resistance 2 space!!!
Woooooo !!!! :D
(Please add game launch:D )

They are. Grabbed 'em a little while ago.

Resistance and SOCOM are indeed on the way and you should be seeing them much, much sooner than the Ratchet space that I can't really talk about, other than acknowledging its existence :)
What's weird to me is the fact that first party devs are really far behind in getting Home spaces out for their games (Resistance, SOCOM, Killzone 2, etc.) but third party devs are getting their home spaces out very close or sometimes before the game launches (Godfather II, Resident Evil 5, FarCry 2).

I think thats because the HOME team has to develop the first party game spaces (Since probably those devs are bussyt finishing the gmae!), and third party develop their own game space.

Im guessing here tough :D

Is Guerilla Games first party ? If Sony had committed resources to integrate Home party system with KillZone 2, they^H^H^H^H we wouldn't have suffered as much trying to organize a game or two.

Their priority is to make money and to soak people stupid enough to buy clothes for a boring virtual space, I mean actions speak louder than pr. So they probably see it as pretty successful.

home is awesome

I guess they really have finally found Home's actual purpose from the perspective of most of its users.. :lol (That isn't a 'shop, right?)

I just spent five bucks in home to deck my guy out in some new threads, and one of the two dollar diesel shirts.

Goodness. I'm part of the problem.
Yeah, I told myself I wouldn't buy a single thing on Home and found myself buying Chris Redfield's gear when it came out. :\
Too awesome to resist.
Le sigh.

Only for JPN Home..dont care.

Also finally got doctor clothes and crap off the Siren Space. Really great minigame although plagued by the "wait in line" crap. The only way to enjoy its is by joining someone who made a private server and only 10 ppls are around.

How are people making private servers!?

Glitchers know how to. I wish I knew since its such a better experience. These types of Home Spaces should only allow a max of 10 ppls or else its just a clusterfuck ala KZ2 maps.

If you join the Siren Space, be ready to wait "in line" infront of 20 ppls with bubble machines to boot and if you dont repeatedly press X, you wont get to play.

What about this?, you go in "real life" to buy something from Diesel, A&E, etc. with each clothe comes a code, with that code you can download the same thing in home.

That would be fucking amazing and is a great idea.

A&E? Or you mean A&F?

That would be cool but how would you do it? If they made a tag or something coming with the clothes, people could easily steal it off the clothing if they were desperate enough. Or take a picture with a cell phone or write it down, etc.

It kind of sucks that you can't get costumes that came along with pre-orders of games, such as the Amazon KZ2 pre-order costumes.

A&F my bad

They can print it on your receipt

edit: Late :lol

Hmm... still don't see how that's possible, or rather, probable. I guess they can do it if they REALLY wanted to. But I'm guessing Home isn't really that big of a deal to clothing retailers... yet.

They'd have to program it into all of their cash registers to somehow spit out random codes for specific clothing.

Ok little update.

Theres a new Xi puzzle at the manhole room.(fragment#15)[ up on EU home, havent checked US]

Some KZ2 related Home stuff coming 'soon'.

And this thursday, you'll be able to DL a new 'apartment/area' for free(1 week only).

Also "HorrorBowl" event taking place this tuesday. To a chance to win first 4 Siren episodes, you must wear Siren clothes unlockables at event.

I'm amazed that the EU Diesel store has quite a few free shirts, but the US one doesn't, they charge 2 bucks for the same stuff that is free in Europe.

I guess my US Home dude will continue wearing stock clothes or promo t-shirts ...

SCE knows that there's more dumb, rich Americans than there are dumb, rich Europeans. :D

Home is back up with a free personal Space and new furnishings (not free) to go with it.

I finally got all the items from the freaking Siren space which takes for-god-damned-ever since there's fifty people trying for five spots. The Alcove set (sword shrine like thingy for your House) was well worth it though.

The new free personal home space is not worth checking out at all. It's an atrium kinda room surrounded by either water or fire (there are switches on the floor you step on to change) and a big tree with a huge face in the middle. The face follows your movement. Nothing else that I noticed.

The texture work is horrible and there's no outdoor area to enjoy either. Feels too claustrophobic.

Resistance 2 is getting HOME game launch next month
(The patch containing the feature releases today tough).

Oh god, I just met a GAFer in HOME, by happenstance, and it was as awkward as I'd imagined it'd be in real life. If someone ever asks me if I post on GAF anywhere, I'm just going to say no... lol.

You can see people glitching on the railing. The mall hast to have the most people glitching. You'd they would've fixed it by now...

There was a patch that was to have fixed most of the glitching. It was supposed to come out in April but a major bug pushed it back. I believe now it's being rolled into another patch that may hit the end of may.

1.20 was rolled into the next update which is now called 1.21.
Apparently info will be posted about it at the end of next week or so.

Please avoid that "new" free apartment. The thing sucks. Cant believe this was released and is gonna be paid content after a week. Its so useless and doesnt really fit into Home.
