gamescom event space blog post live:

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/08/18/playstation-home-gamescom-comes-to-you/

Our gamescom event space will bring you the latest games trailers for upcoming titles, all set in a space perfect for mingling with the community and discussing all the latest news. Gather up a team of four to play our oversized slot machine game to win some great rewards. Finally, stay tuned for news of exclusive gig footage from up and coming Sony Music group Locnville showing in the virtual booth!

Play M.A.G.? Whether you’ve aligned yourself with SVER, Raven or Valor, this week the Estates store has a personal space just for you! There’s a selection of furniture available for each faction to help deck out your new personal space just right and show your allegiance.

Our third and final release of 30th anniversary Empire Strikes Back content arrives tomorrow, with some of the best furniture and ornaments I’ve seen for a while. There are AT-AT and AT-ST tables, a Slave 1 sofa … and Han Solo in Carbonite. LucasArts are also making available an amazing value bundle pack including all of the Empire Strikes Back content released during the anniversary celebrations. Also releasing this week there’s a Solitaire table in the Stuff store, Audi furniture items, and some shirts in the V-Store. There’s plenty to see and do this week, so we’ll see you in Home!

I just checked out the Star Wars bar. I'm still amazed how many people actually use Home as a social platform. At the moment I listen to the Alien band while two girls of my country have a conversation about flirting in Home.
(at the same time lots of people dancing, including a clone trooper going intimate with Bison)

Meh, the Gamescomm space isn't that great. And the rewards are stupid to get. You have to rely on your reflexes and the stupid wheel will won't give me what I wanted. (I know the game is Killzone 3. I smash X on KZ3, but I get Socom. WTF.)

Ok, so I decided to give this another go after nearly 11 months away. I am very surprised by how good it is now.

I spent ages playing WipEout 2D in the WipEout Museum(I even spent money on WipEout gear in hope of a new game in the series:lol ). I then discovered Sodium One. I enjoyed the training game, so stumped up the £3.99 to buy access to the main game. I am glad I did. I then called my brother and got him online and we then spent hours playing around with stuff in Home. Before finishing with a game launch into Warhawk:D

Ok Sony, you win, Home isn't shit.

Who here loves Bomberman? Well, you’ll be glad to hear that the Hudson Gate public space arrives in PlayStation Home this week! Each disc of this futuristic space offers something new, from information on Hudson Soft games, to a store selling Bomberman outfits and Hudson Soft games. Stick around for the regular Dolphy races – correctly vote for winner of this sky race to win rewards!

If watching the Dolphy races isn’t enough for you, drop into the store and purchase the Dolphy Apartment, where you can raise your very own Dolphy to take part in races. Raise your young Dolphy to adulthood (takes 5 days), feed it with special digital fish to improve its stats, and enter it into the Dolphy race!

Kane and Lynch items arrive in the stores this week, with a range of clothing and furniture items from Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days.
See you in Home!

The PSN Move Event has hit North America. Go to the home space and suit up as a move controller. From there join a four person team from the home beacons right in the middle of the space. After the timer counts down spread out and look for small screens that show up displaying four different move icons. If you can do this with your teammates 25 times you will get varying move controller outfits to show off.

Edit: There's also a tri-sphere available which I haven't gotten to play yet.

The thing is, they don't show where the screens are. I've gotten a correct move once and then the second screen doesn't pop-up where we're at, so we start to mvoe around and it doesn't show up. So we fail.

I quit the game after like 5-6 attempts that boiled down to that. Annoying.

You have to spread out. Do two on one floor two on the other. One of each takes each side.

Has anyone been able to get the alcove set from the Siren Ward of Despair? I need some help. :lol

Yeah I have it but can't remember the requirements, is it the one where you have to leave the space last after everyone completing it in a certain time?

I just got it. Everyone has to survive. I basically yelled at people and told them to let me do everything and promised the outfit and the item. I found a group that decided to listen finally.

Ah yeah, sucks when you have to rely on others to get stuff, I must have just gotten lucky when I got mine.

Hey guys my Home auto-update is borked. When Super Stardust HD did this (shutdown the PS3 when it tried to auto-update) I just redownloaded it. Where do I go to redownload Home? Only listing in the Playstation Store I see wants money for a package. Does it cost to get the non-Beta client? Let me know.

Your install app for the home client should be right next to the playstation store logo iirc.

Thing is, I did get everyone that alcove set and the doctor's outfit. So I kept my word. ;)

Any reason why Home won't let me update? Every time I try to download the 1.36 patch, my PS3 starts beeping and restarts.

Edit: Haha, of course it works as soon as I posted this. I swear I tried more then ten times over the course of weeks, and only after I post some help the damn thing works.

It's a BUG on some PS3 updates. You have to wait until the HDD lights stop blinking before you continue the update.

Yeah this is what I had going on. I deleted Home and sure enough, as someone advised, selecting the Home icon got me the install.

Looking forward to Resident Evil: Afterlife? There’s a free poster in the Furniture store this week, and keep your eyes open for a competition to be announced soon that features some amazing prizes.
Finally, if you haven’t yet checked out Oscar’s Lobster Mania in the Shopping Centre why not give it a look this week. Not only is there a fun game to play, you also receive the awesome lobster suit costume – with custom walk animation – when you buy access to the full game.

MAG armors are pretty cool.

I also wish Lockwood would stop working on all that useless junk and divert their efforts to the Sodium One followup they've been teasing for some time now. :(

They also need to fix the dang scorpions.

Visited Home over the past few days for the first time in a while and I have to say its got a hell of a lot better since I last logged on a few months back. Despite that though the whole thing still feels a bit disconnected/flat and I cant help but think what could of been every time I log out.

Darn you know a way to make Home even more awesome? Boy do I wish you worked for Sony.

Don't we all know how home should be...And speaking of which, i keep hearing people say how home should be connected to the xmb. Well how would that work? I'm not being sarcastic, i really can't see how.:D Some people on home talk about a massive upgrade in the works later this year. Any truth to that? And lastly, what's with Home beta 2.0?

I just wanted to see how would you guys implement home into the xmb is all. There was some talk a little while back on Home beta 2.0 and i thought it might be tied to this upgrade people on Home were refering to. They they a streamlined voice chat system, and media streaming, along with faster load times. I know, huge grains of salt.
Friends on your list started testing it?
No. they wouldn't be able to spill the beans anyway. If i find it on google, i'll edit:

Jack Buser who is the director of Home has teased about trophy integration in the past. If they find a smart way of handling that, it could drive a lot of traffic for Home. It's already a profitable platform but that increase in revenue could get Sony to see that there is actually potential to properly develop it further, not just have third parties make some useless items every few weeks.

As much as I hate myself whenever I use this thing, I do occasionally go into Home from time to time and have had a burning question for a while now. Where in the world do I buy a pair of glasses in this thing? I've checked every story I could find, but it's always just goofy gimmick stuff.

Look for like the Tina Fey style or something similar. I saw somebody once with glasses like that, but when I asked they had no idea where they had gotten them from.

Are you talking about regular trophies for games that are played within Home? If so, then that would be a good idea. I could envision some of the "bigger" games in Home (for example, Sodium One) benefiting from trophies that could be carried over to the main trophy list outside of Home.
