PS3 + Nintendo Rev combo for the win?

What is with everyone saying about the controller attachments costing too much?

This is Nintendo, they'll most likely bundle them in with the game that utilizes them. StarFox64 had the rumble pack, Donkey Kong 64 the graphic expansion unit, Zelda: Four Swords Adventure had the GBA/GCN Linkup Cable, and Pokemon the wireless link adapter.

Why would this change now?

Also, third-party devs/pubs might create their own addons to the primary "controller", no? Like Namco might include a racing wheel column in a Ridge Racer game, etc.
100% true, but a big focus of Nintendo's Revolution plans is side-by-side 4 player multiplayer, so you might have to buy extra controllers and attachments, if your friends don't buy it too.

True, but we know the analog pad portion is a given, so I'm guessing that both pieces will be bundled together. After that, though, it's up in the air.

Also, i dont think halo3 will be as big of a deal as eveyone is making it out to be. If PS3 launches with mgs4 and revolution launches with a fps (establishing the consoles superiority in the genre) Halo 3 could be a title only 360 owners care about.

Why do you think MGS4 will be as big a deal as everyone is making that out to be?

I don't know the numbers offhand, but in those lifetime sales charts that pop up time to time aren't Halo and Halo 2 only second to GTA games?

Anyone else not think the analog add-on really should be wireless also? I think it'd be better if it didn't need to be kept within x amount of distance of the controller at all times, particularly if the game requires broad motion of the controller.

oh yeah? I hadn't heard that. I'm an admitted Sony fan, but Nintendo is really intriguing me. Right now, the mini-game possibilities are limited only to the imagination, but I want fully-realized games first. I'd be happy to make the Rev my first Nintendo console since the NES.

I also hope this kicks Sony in the ass to make the PS3 EyeToy the best it can be (see the "cups" demo from E3).

This is one of those cost things. They can keep things cheap by having a two handed device that only requires one wireless transmitter and one set of batteries (making it cheaper even for you). Plus it means that non-standard (third party, bongos, the like) controllers will be both cheap AND wireless. It's actually a pretty smart move, and really shows that Nintendo is all about making teh monies no matter where they stand on this penis length contest we call an industry.
