Hehe, I suggested this ages ago. Snapping screenshots and opening a browser to post victories on GAF :p

Oh for the love of god, NO!

"Hey everybody i'm drunk! wheeee! Look at my wang! *waggle waggle* *puke*"

All they need is a live esque service with the ability to transfer files from person to person.

It seems that they are farther behind in the online dept than they should be.

Universal log in, ability to see what games your friends are playing, and be able to jump from one game to another on the fly is a must. This is all I really demand.

It worries me that they're still in the survey-stage of development. Apparently even Sony doesn't have a solid idea of what PS3 Online will look like, yet.

Yeah this would be nice. It would make captures much easier, especially for titles like Burnout, or anything else that could be hilarious or world record material etc.

I like the idea of getting stuck in a game, grabbing the wireless keyboard and jumping into a forum specifically for the game I'm playing to get some clues or hints without having to run to the computer or stop and save my game.

30. The inclusion of a web browser.

They announced it at E3, so it seems like it's something they're sure about. PSP has one, so PS3 having one should be a no-brainer.

Agreed, that could be a nice idea.

Same here. Xbox Live is like the best thing that has ever happened to this business :)

If they are surveying this now, I take it this service is in the early stages of development. Or am I mistaken.

It's hard to tell. This may purely be for marketing people, to try and figure out what's important to people and how to present and pitch the offering that'll be made. Or it could be to help guide technical development. It could be that some of its done, and some of it will be coming depending on feedback. Who knows?

Seriously though... those all seem like good features, except for the auto filter; It would be a good option, but for some games it could make finding opponents more difficult then it should be, especially for us aussie types :(

Web browsing would be nice mixed with the in-game picture taking option. You can get instant help from a site and share with GAF!

Oh, PS3 shall be so sleek.

Have they confirmed that they are using the PSX/PSP interface? I forgot the exact name of it (since they branded it). I remember hearing last year (or maybe the year before) that all of their consumber products would be using this interface.

wrong.

they improve the online thingf all the time. for example - sony europe has a big online beta testing community.

6. A single identity and password for all online games?
Definite.

7. Global Lobbies allowing you to play against anyone in the world?
Sure, but not totally necessary.

8. Game Lobbies should be language based. (English, French, German etc)
Kinda required I'd think.

9. Game Lobbies should be based geographically.
See question 7.

10. A standard, interactive lobby structure for all games.
This would be awesome, but if each game had a different looking lobby I wouldn't care.

11. Headset support in all online games?
Yes please, but not required IMO.

12. A QWERTY keyboard as standard for messaging.
Definite.

13. USB Keyboard support for every online title.
Depends on the extent of support. For chat, definitely; for ingame play, don't really care.

14. Friend List allowing you to see online/offline status?
Definite.

15. Friend List allowing you to see what game your friends are playing?
Definite.

16. Private Messaging across games?
Definite.

17. A feedback rating allowing you to choose who you play against?
Would be really cool, eBay style. Not really necessary though.

18. Ability to remove players out via a majority vote?
Sure.

19. Game Host has the ability to remove players?
No, too many idiots become hosts.

20. Automatically filter opponents based on connection quality?
Meh, broadband only so most should have decent enough connections.

21. The ability to download music, game demos and other content?
Definite. Connect support FTW!

22. Ability to access the dedicated game forum whilst in game?
Waste of time implementing IMO.

23. Ability to take screenshots during the game and share them with friends?
This is a cool feature, and I used a lot in FFXI.

24. Ability to take movie clips in game and share them with friends?
Screens are good enough.

25. Ability to play my music during a game?
I'm not that huge on custom soundtracks, but it would be nice to have the option.

26. An in game grief reporting system?
See question 17.

27. Ability to access and manage your gaming profile via PC, PSP as well as PS3?
OMG definite. I want uber PSP/PS3 integration.

28. Community features without the need for a game disc.
This would be awesome, access to message boards and the like. This ties into question 30 though.

29. Ability to choose an Avatar for all online titles.
Definite.

30. The inclusion of a web browser.
Definite, see question 28.

31. A specific lobby only for Adults.
Don't care unless they have so fool-proof way to determine whether you're an adult or not. And 21+ for adult, not 18. Sorry guys.

32. Service should feature a Global Ranking system for each game.
Kinda cool, but not that essential IMO.

33. Game Lobbies should be Eyetoy compatible.
I'll never use it, that's for damn sure.

I don't see the most important question, free.

There's also a comment box where you can go off on a rant/offer further input on the survey matter. I mentioned "free online play" in my page of comments. I only hope other intelligent Euros like myself did the same.

Fuck paying a fee to play online, if I'm paying a high premium price for a game I want to be able to exploit its full features without having to incur extra charges.

I don't understand these people who pay to play these crappy MMORPGs every month...

It's called XMB (Cross Media Bar). It looks like PS3 is using it, it's mentioned on the Devstation 2006 site (which is 100% PS3-related), and Kutaragi showed a picture or mock-up of the PS3 interface at a presentation some time ago, and it was using XMB.

There's a really interesting and promising message from the guy taking care of the beta trials when people say they want Sony to make it "like Xbox live". But doesn't all this seem a little late? Maybe they'll launch their online service when they launch in Europe and US?

Agreed, that could be a nice idea.

PS2 "had" one too :lol

I hope I can now JACK IN with my PS3 and internet connection :lol

Posting on GAF from my PS3 keyboard while my Vision GT game is paused.

*head explodes*

Survey answered :)

If only sony does as good as with the PS2 BB Navigator for japan, Im sure it will be better than the live experience :)

For those who don't know, I have in my Midnight Blue ps2 since years ago:

- Email Client
- Web Browser
- Extrememly well designed (not just a web) Gaming channels with downloadable content as movies, wallpapers, etc.
- Gaming channel with free online playable games, like the HUDSON Channel, with 6 or 7 arcade vintage games to play for free (star soldier, ...) and with online ranking.
- and more.

Of course, it's a shame because it didn't grow as much as it could have because it was only in japan and the f*kin ps2 slime aborted the hdd thing.

I really don't know why sony did not export that model to the rest of the world (europe & hdd...) .

Didn't they have a survey like this when PS2 on-line debuted? Not saying Sony won't do these things, but I wouldn't begin to believe it just yet.

Sounds like they plan on ripping off Live pretty good not to mention improving upon some features while lacking some, but mostly extraneous, the essentials will be there. If they do, they'll be kicking sand in MS' game bigtime.
