I bought my PS3 slim to use as my first Blu-ray player, didn’t care for most of the games at the time and paid like $250 for it. Still hooked up today in the game room. Glad they are still supporting it for this purpose.

You linked the store that only sells PS4/5 content. But prove me wrong, find some PS3 games listed on there that I can buy and then download to my PS3.
The buying of PS3 / PSP / Vita content was removed from the site you linked years ago.

Over time I've changed my mind on this. Vita has the best UI ever to me.
Regardless of the bubble style, it is extremely fast with every action (even switching between apps), has a fast quick resume, and the 'swiping a page' system led to better and faster navigation than the PS3 scroll and it's folders. It eliminated wait times as much as humanly possible to the point where it still outperforms some modern console offerings in terms of speed.

It's the PlayStation store. But it only sells PS4/5 content. It is NOT the PS3 store.

People are questioning you saying "Do people really use the On Console store? I just buy on a PC." That's not an option for the systems listed.
The PSN backend that lets you access downloads on legacy consoles has nothing to do with the current modern web store. It's OK to be wrong about something. Just move on rather than throwing a bunch of unrelated things at a wall to try proving you were right all along.

I have just hooked my PS3 again and was surprised by another update. I love my PS3 Slim and will be buying more games for it later this year. I also have decided my Vita needs my attention and have been recently buying games for that as well.
I own all the latest hardware but there is something about that time, that generation that today's technology and games can't touch.

Once again, Sony killed the PS3, PSP, and Vita web store year ago. IT NO LONGER EXISTS. Purchasing on the consoles/handhelds using credit you have on the account is the only way to still buy things.

It was over priced and over engineered and took devs forever just to get to the level of xbox 360 level graphics on it. It wasn’t until the later half of it’s life that and SOME devs were able to squeeze out better performance than the 360. And the 360 had its problems too with the first two revision being ticking time bombs. Both systems barely able to get to 720p, and even if they did it still looked like shit on peoples 1080p TVs (due to the pixel mismatch and basic blurry upscaling). And we also had the Wii, which was just a turbo charged GameCube. That gen fucking sucked!
They are doing their yearly BluRay security update to keep playback of new discs working. Now incredibly shitty of them.

I just wish Sony would bring back the ps3 UI. It had the best aesthetic for navigation and the option were plentiful. Maybe that's what the ps2/3/4 themes will be in the future; options to use an older UI, but the ps5 has enough horsepower to run the ps3 UI to it's full potential.
If it wasnt for Geohot, we'd probably still have all of the options the ps3 had on the ps5. Damn hackers forced Sony to give us less options to customize our console experience.

It is relevant. To say the PS3 is the best console ever made, now that is fucking debatable. It’s not even Sony’s best console. Both playsation’s before and after it have been better. Easily their worst console without a doubt.

One day, Sony, please, revert the main store back to it's PS3 version and not the super slow PS4-clone version. This was so much faster...
...and it technically still exists, but I can only access it today by using an in-game DLC menu and tricking it to get there.
No new software is being added to the store. What games are on there, that you can't simply buy in bulk once and call it a day?

That's probably why I never said or even implied that. You said the 7th gen "fucking sucked" because of graphical fidelity and I disagreed because it had tons of great games.
The PS2's library has absolutely nothing to do with that.

The Homebrew community always finds a way to adapt to new firmware updates, so this is going to be a temporary block until the community finds a way to work around it. I bought PS3 last year specifically to homebrew it but I was waiting till I bought all the possible digital games I wanted on the digital PS3 store before taking the plunge. I'm just thankful Sony stil has a working storefront for PS3 in 2025. It has given me the time to build up one final digital collection before I homebrew it.

Not just fidelity, but reliability (360), price early ps3) and how difficult it apparently was to get the most out of the ps3 (poor results from early games particularly from 3rd parties). Also this started with some one else saying then ps3 was the best console ever which I found absurd.
