PS3 to support KB/M

Dear Sony:

Release this for the PS3 and you will be the king of FPS games.

I don't understand why some of you guys are in disbelief or even shocked. It was already possible to use a keyboard and/or mouse on the PS2. Why would it be any different with the PS3? The real question is if developers are willing to implement mouse and keyboard functionality in thier games. The inquirer is trash, but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that the PS3 is compatible with USB mice and keyboards.

And here I thought we were going to get some exclusive news on a new CS Keyboard Mania. :(

Well Unreal 2007 will have k/b gaming for the PS3.

Microsofts stupid-ass stance on this subject made me nervous that perhaps Sony would follow that. Not only that, if true, it sounds like a much more solid start so perhaps more developers would support it without the use of something like SmartFRAG Joy.

I had both versions of Quake 3. I perfered the console version solely because my friends had it as well. I'm a pretty good player in Halo 2. However, put the controller S in my hands and have me play Battlefield 2 and I'll get my ass handed to me 9 out of ten times. There has to be a level playing field, like checks and balances, with this. I don't like this one bit. It's like history repeating itself

We already discussed this before. NOT letting people choose the control scheme (especially one that is functionally superior in every way for a few specific genres) is a thousand times worse than just letting people choose. That said, your complaint is not without merit.

The solution is relatively simple, and the fact that it's not being done (by Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo, really) is pretty incredible. All you would need to do is have two HUBS. One HUB is for people who use keyboard+mouse for control, one is for those who use the controller. There would be no crossover. If you hooked up the controller, you'd automatically regain access to that section. The benefits to allowing it are vast as well. It's better because there doesn't have to be any standardized restrictions, which needlessly spread over even into offline play in this case.

So, anyway, superior control scheme for the win. Keyboard+Mouse for FPS/RTS life.
