After feeling burned by the price I paid for a 3DS at launch I told myself I wasn't getting anymore gaming systems at launch. I held off on the Wii U and Vita for 12-18 months respectively and it paid off handsomely as I got a much better value at a significantly lower price than they launched at. While there's still a part of me that wants to sell my PS4 if I see it going for $600+ on eBay, I don't see how I'll be able to resist ripping it open when I get it.

Apparently there is, it's only sold in Europe though, not sure if anyone has gotten a hold of a real one yet though.

I'm still wondering whether buying right away is a good idea, I have a launch preorder on Amazon, but I'm pretty sure the first thing i'll be interested in is Destiny. I don't have any issue with the money, and I know I'll be getting it eventually, so I still haven't canceled. Maybe its a good idea buying now in case I can't find one in stock? Look at all this justifying, ha.

The only one near me says its operating hours are 4-6PM. I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to pick it up until then. If I waited for it to be delivered, I'd get it earlier in the day than that.
I was in high school when PS3 came out. I bought it in Feb 07 and memories were made aplenty over the years with early ones filled with nearly unrelenting hours of continuous gaming and debating games back and forth on GT forums (and getting banned a few times XD). A new generation approaches and new breed of younglings will replace us. I miss those days and while I will never get them back, I am sure that I will make different ones of different taste this time around.

Yeah, I know. Just didn't much see the point since I'd be buying the gift card with the debit card that I'm using for my PS4 order anyways. All of my games will be paid for with Best Buy gift cards that I've collevted throughout the year though.

First of all, thank you for creating the thread. It seems we are getting close of another generation and this time the hype really got me. It's amazing to see how far we have come, looking at the Shinobi thread posted in the OP it sure is interesting to see how different games looked back then, yet, I remember saying: "look at those amazing graphics! No way" not too long ago.
I've been playing games for quite some time. Single Player, Multiplayer, on PC, consoles and so on. Gaming to me is something that brought balance to my life and it brings me joy while I sit down and relax playing a Story or having some online fun with a couple of friends. It really helped me too when times were bad, when I had some rough times. Gaming was always there to help me escape, even for a small portion of time, to another reality. Today I still keep on playing and it has never been more fun.
To me, playing games is a timeless thing. It does not matter if I'm playing a just released title or something from the 80's or the 90's. Fun is fun.
Funny thing is, there was one thing that I added to my Gaming for quite some years: GAF. This fine Community filled with amazing and kind people loves to talk and discuss this great hobby of ours. In the last years spending this time with you all I got to know someone just by their name, avatar, or by posting. A feel of a growing strong Community was present every day. And it still is.
Years have passed and while many Backlogs increased or decreased, some silly things like Online Passes have come and go, DLC's, Content, Experience (lot's of them according to many PR's) only one thing remained true: this place. Because we will always fight for what we like, as consumers or gamers. Because in the end it's all about gaming and this is the reason why I am proud to say: I belong here.
Soon, some posts in the "Post your Pick up" thread will start, then some amazing gaming setups will be posted in the "Post your gaming setup" thread and many others will follow filled with tips & tricks, deals, impressions, reviews, and many more.
This is the best time to play, but also, this is the best time to NeoGAF.
I hope that, on Day one, in here -Europe- I can also be one of the lucky ones to get a PS4 (all my vouchers, lot's of them, are ready) and join the party and all the upcoming discussions we will be having.
As a last plead, it would be amazing to remember us all why we are here. To talk what we love and that's is Videogames. They are our passion and it does not matter where we are, our religion, how we look or how much rich or poor some can be. Respecting the next fellow GAFfer should always be a priority when posting. It's amazing when we all have fun together! Right? No need to be rude, harsh or to offend each one simply because opinions are different. Remember that this is a multi-cultural place, there are many different minds so keep that in mind and remember, each member build this Community, for good and for bad.
