Thing is, at this point it wouldn't surprise me to see a PS4 Pro S in 2018-2019 -- especially with all the restrictions on base PS4s still needing to be supported and equal frame rates across MP. Because, why not? It's a model manufacturers clearly would prefer to move to and if they can release one final upgrade -- e.g. a Pro Slim with specs higher than the Pro but a smaller size, too, then they'd love that. Of course they say there will be only a single generation upgrade but of course they're going to say that, even if they actually plan otherwise. Because both Sony and MS would love to release a new upgrade every 2-3 years -- devs won't but of course Sony want that iterative annual upgrade money that commoditized smartphones get. So if they're aiming for another 7-8 cycle, and they at least want the option for a sort of 'Pro S' or 'Pro Plus' then 2016 is pretty much as late as they can go (same if they switch from a 7 year cycle to a 6 year cycle).
