PS4 system update 1.52 coming soon

You know how in the PS store it makes a little sound when you click on a menu item, or go back, or even scroll I think? Sometimes the sound gets cut off when I do an action in the store, especially if I enter commands quickly. It's minor but for some reason annoys the heck out of me.

Is it just me?

Yup I've tried some of those, rebuilding the database etc, but they didn't work.
I think it was Playroom that caused the problem for me. When I started all the games like you said without seeing anything strange I suddenly got kicked out to the UI at the startup of Playroom and got the same error code as I got when syncing trophies. Second attempt went fine and so did syncing the trophies after that.

When that happens, try switching your tv's input source back to tv or a different hdmi port, then switch back to the ps4. I had that problem when trying to play dvds (blu rays were fine), and after flipping between two sources, the dvd fired up, and I haven't had a problem since. Read about this fix elsewhere, I guess this isn't too rare a problem.
 
Well my system download the patch in Standby but when it turned on it didn't sign me in as I hadn't installed patch and made me download it and install in one go.

When it was done I signed in to be told the patch was ready to install.....
 
I didn't realize it was new

I installed my PS4 late last night and did the 1.51 patch. When I turned it on this morning it was for 1.52 was thinking what a stupid system they have in place that would force me to do multiple updates lol
 
A 1.5x patch won't add any new features. I wouldn't expect a major feature update until next year, and it'll be 1.6 or maybe even 2.0.

I just had my PS4 freeze on me while playing Warframe with a friend. Now it's asking me in SAFE MODE to download the system update 1.52 (or later) on playstation.com on a USB storage device!! Problem is, there's only the 1.51 system update on Playstation.com!!

What in the fuckin' FUCK Sony!

What does it even mean? Will I still have my save files? Does it means it formating everything there is on my hard drive?! And I just had downloaded the 1.52 update too!! Improves system software stability my ass!!

Thank you, I'm downloading it right now, though I'm not sure if I have to take the recovery file or simply the update. I'll be checking that out, decompressing at the moment while the download is being done.

Edit: After following the steps on playstation.com with the folders and everything, I've put my USB into my closed ps4 and rebooted the whole thing. It then asked me to installe the update with the USB device and it followed quickly with a little loading and a screen saying my update couldn't be used.
Pissed off, I went back and downloaded on my PC the recovery file, but while waiting, my PS4 rebooted and went back to normal. What the hell? Anyway, I'm glad it worked fine in the end, but still, WTF happened there? ... I hope it's not gonna fail on me again anytime soon.

Edit3: a hour later, my ps4 HARD LOCKED once again. FFS.
 
OK So I wanted to UP the thread considering I'm having mad troubles with my PS4 since I downloaded this update.

For one, my game hardlocked while playing warframe, so I had to unplugged the cord of my PS4. When rebooting, it was asking me to download the 1.52 system update (or later) by using a USB storage device in SAFE MODE.

I followed the steps that were on Playstation.com, made a folder named PS4, then in it made another folder named UPDATE. In this one, I saved the 1.52 update and then went back to my PS4. Made sure it was entirely closed down before putting in my USB, and when it asked me to installed the update, I pressed ok. That's when shit happened, it then told me that the update couldn't be used and about a minute later, rebooted on it's own and my PS4 was alright. I then followed to play a bit of Warframe and completed the demo of LEGO Marvel Superheroes until it HARDLOCKED on me again.

Now my playstation takes mad time to load ANYTHING. It now once again hardlocked and I'm simply tired of this. Could anyone, PLEASE, PLEASE help me with this madness? Should I just reformat? How should I start?


My playstation is now like new. Literally considering I've lost all saves and all games I had downloaded. Fuckin' frustrating.

Hmmm. I'll give that a shot but it sounds like this fix would address HDMI handshaking or HDCP issues. I never lose the video output from the PS4. It's always there, since I can pull up the OSD for BR playback. It's like it just doesn't know where to start playing the disc and sits there.

I've noticed this too. Like when I'm browsing through a trophy list or something.

Not just you, I've noticed this with the navigation sounds all over the UI. Every now and then the sound will fail to play for a menu item as you're moving through stuff.

This happens on my PS3 as well when using the XMB. I thought it was my sound setup.
I'm using optical out. You guys?

sounds like an optical issue and also may be specific to your receiver. i see this sometimes too but only when i'm using my gaming headset which uses optical. never happens when using my soundbar via hdmi.

definitely sucks. to ease the blow, do you at least have PS+ for the cloud saving? one less thing to replace if so...
 
I wonder when they fix the trophy sync errors you sometimes get for PS4 games. I mean you can work around it by opening the trophy notification as soon as it pops up but... I want to enjoy the game without the need to interrupt just so my trophy list doesn't get all messed up.

I believe all your saves should be on the cloud... I believe they are put there automatically on ps4
 
When will Sony make the PS4 media functions as good as the PS3? This was a huge step back for me. Yes games are good but you can't ignore the other side Sony. Hope we get all the functionality back by FW 2.0. They just have to!

That's the thing though, first thing I did was go see if my saved games were at least on the cloud by accessing the application saved data management in the settings. All of my saved data are gone. I have no clue why considering it'd be uploaded onto cloud, but that's what it tells me.

Saved Data in online storage -> Download to system storage -> There is no saved data
Saved Data in online storage -> Delete -> There is no saved data

Same thing happens when I go into system storage. It really, really sucks.

Edit2: WOW. Now my PS4 doesn't even close entirely. I have the white light pulsing and my controller and console doesn't answer back. RI-DI-CU-LOUS. ONCE AGAIN, I had to unpluggd the cord off my PS4.


Every damn time I shut off my PS4, I hear this double beep happening and it never shuts off after that. This white light keeps pulsing and if I try to open my controller, tere's only a white light happening like it doesn't register. PS4's on/off button doesn,t register either. Only thing I CAN do is unplugged it the hard way. Fuck this, I'm calling Playstation support.

Ohh, I am using optical in fact....... interesting. Do you have any more information on this? Thanks. It's only in the PS store for whatever reason. I thought it was just the software buggin' because I was moving the cursor quickly or w/e.

Seems like you have a busted PS4. I would try and replace it.

Let us know what happens. If it gets worse or better.

So, my modem doesn't seem to play nice with firmware updates. Even doing it through USB seems to always result in corrupted data.

Not sure what to do to fix this...

Sounds very similar to my issues. Just a fucked box. I was on support calls with Sony trying to sort it out. They over-nighted me a fedex package and I dropped it off today to be mailed. Should have it back inside of a week.

Kinda sucks, but Sony was pretty cool about it and the reps were all very nice and (tried to be) helpful.

I recommend you get the thing fixed or whatever by Sony... pretty sure my HDD was malfunctioning causing all those problems, not the actual firmware. Unless it was the firmware that buggered my HDD.

NEVER do this. Keep your finger on the power button long enough and it will turn off, or you risk bricking your system. Since you've already lost everything you might as well try reformatting. If that doesn't work I'd just call Sony. Good luck.
