PS4 Triple Beep/Disc Eject - WTF

Mine had the some problem a few months ago.
At least is very easy to fix just search on YT : "PS4 auto eject" and youll fix it in 5 minutes.
 
Do you have a capacitive button? Those are much more likely to do this. I have a white destiny ps4, and mine does it monthly. When it happens, i typically rub the buttons and change the orientation a few times from vertical to horizontal and back, and it typically stops. Newer ps4s have a physical button, and I hear it is not an issue on those.

isn't there a system function that lets you discharge the static buildup specifically to fix these kinds of problems?
 
Do you have a launch system with touch sensitive power and eject buttons?

I experienced the same problem many times and removed the rubber footing underneath those buttons at the front of the console. Never experienced it since.
 
Like 99% popular. Everyone I know had this at some point.

Mine is a launch unit and only once or twice I had this happen, but then last week the console kept beeping... turned off completely. I had to unplug it from the outlet.
 
I had this problem and doing this fixed it:

My launch ps4 had this problem. Kept popping discs out while I was playing.
It was out of warranty and none of the easy solutions were working so I opened it up and taped over the connection to disable the button.
Solved the problem but now have to eject discs using the option in the menus

I'll try this. Mine acts up every now and then and I'll just prop up the front of the system with a game case while I'm playing to keep it from doing it. When I'm not playing I'll leave it unplugged. It's really fucking annoying.

I think there's a screw somewhere that you can tighten, or maybe loosen? too (gee that was a helpful statement). I've been meaning to look that up but I keep forgetting.

edit: it happened with Giant Bomb (profanity warning) during a Quick Look recording once. (9:36 if the link doesn't take you right there)
 
It has happened since a few months after using it for the first time (it was bought in December 2013 but I didn't used until March 2014). I removed the rubber at some point but it didin't work and it stil happens quite often. The short term solution is turning off the console, unplugging it from the power source, pressing the eject button until there's no battery, removing the PS4's top and moving the little screw on the side.
 
Pulling the rubber foot bellow the disk fixed it at first for me though it eventually came back and tightening (or loosening??) the screw for the disc drive fixed it for me. Look up that fix.
 
I had this as well. None the "solutions" really worked for me other than opening up the PS4 and scratch the gold capacitor plate for the eject button.
 
I had this problem with my launch ps4. Doing to above mentioned method and the screw fix did not work for me. To make matters worse, the eject button stopped working, so I am screwed when it comes to disc based games. I sold the launch unit and got the latest revision with all matte finish, and never had a problem with it.
 
This happened for me on my launch ps4 for the first time a few weeks ago. Glad to see there's some fixes for it.
 
had this happen to me for the first time, was pretty bizarre and I thought there was something wrong with my ps4.

Same here. A lot of fixes will say to loosen the rubber foot. I still had the issue.

Removed the foot and no issues since.
 
This was driving me nuts for a while as well. I followed some of the same steps here; removing the rubber foot from underneath it and tightening the ejection screw. Both were temporary fixes and the situation always reared it's head again and with increased frequency. Ended up taking some compressed air to the ejection button to clean out the area around it about two months ago and haven't had an issue since. Pretty sure trapped dirt and debris can cause the touch button to falter.
 
Sent mine in for warranty repair for this, it came back and started doing it again within 3 months. I tried all the fixes on the internet and none worked. Welcome to hell.
 
Mine does the triple beep sometimes, but it doesn't eject the disc, thankfully. Does it both when it's on and off. Nothing seems to happen, though, but I still worry. Looked for some solutions online, but it didn't work.

I read that the triple beep means the PS4 just wasn't turned off properly or something. I don't see why that would be the case, though since I eject my discs and have no apps or games running.

So, should I be worried or anything?

Oh, there was one time that my PS4 couldn't read the disc...
 
Started happening a week ago on my launch unit. I don't care how easy it is to fix, I've been very disappointed in terms of build quality with the PS4. Wobbly, loud as fuck, battery on the DS4 doesn't last, and now this shit. Neo can't come soon enough.
 
Wide spread on launch units. Both of mine do it, just take off hdd cover and there's a screw for the Blu-ray drive that you tighten for it to go away. Make sure you unplug the system first. Oh and it'll be back in the future. Good luck.

Edit: I tried removing the rubber feet as mine is vertical but no dice it still comes back later.

So I designed a little invention of my own. If the problem comes from static electricity building up in the area around the eject button, why not trying to isolate the button?

I simply covered my eject button using electrical insulating tape. And you know what?

It's been over a full year WITHOUT A SINGLE TRACE OF THE ISSUE.

Seriously, try it for yourselves. It did absolute wonders in my experience. And the best part is that you can still use the button afterwards, even with the tape on it, the button will still react to your finger.

I hope this can help someone.
 
That happened on my system last year, and I think it was a heating problem.

I tried every method described above with no success, then I tried to open my system and change the thermal paste and clean the fan, and it fixed for me.

I would recommend you to try that if you know a little bit of hardware and have patience, your warranty will be voided though.

None of the solutions work. It's just that a lot of people have the problem and a lot of people try the "fixes", for some of them their PS4 stops having the issue right when they try a fix. But it always comes back. Its the same with each firmware update and all the people who claim the update killed their console. If a console randomly dies and by coincidence it was after an update then 100% confirmed, updates kill consoles. Also the number of fixes around for this issue should tell you there is no fix:

rebuilding the database fixes it
randomly turning the tray screw fixes it
pulling off the rubber fixes it
putting some tape on the ps4 fixes it
doing a dance fixes it...

When I moved to Japan it didn't beep for about 7 months, then randomly started again, but now has been good for the past month...

There is no fix other than sending it back to Sony. It will randomly get better same as it randomly started, but just because a random halt to the issue coincided to a fix doesn't mean it was fixed.

No, it's fixable. It would happen without fail every few minutes on my launch PS4, then I tightened the screw and it never came back. This was January 2014 and not a peep since. Ever

I've done that as well a few months after I bought my PS4 back in 2014 and it just happened randomly a month ago. I slightly pulled the rubber part at the bottom without taking it off as I thought it might be pushing in and somehow affecting the very sensitive buttons. No issues since.

Very annoying though.
 
Can I use this time to mention how lame the beep the ps4 makes is?

Here you have this box with a sleek little light bar for status, and two buttons that are clearly more form than function (I still get confused which is power and which is eject).

But then the beep it makes is this harsh generic sound. I would have expect some sleek little sound effect for it powering on or off, but no.

Nitpicky as hell of course, but always stuck me as strange contradiction for the rest of the design.
 
Couple of solutions to the problem

1) Disable the eject button in a permanent fashion
2) Vertical orientation might help
3) Prop up the front of your PS4 without it touching the eject button (I did this)


The most annoying thing is the beep that the PS4 makes though, which I haven't bothered working out how to fix. It's like a computer from the 90's

Lol I just got a Pro and never looked back.
 
I stopped mine from doing this by removing the rubber foot from under the PS4 - the one below the disc tray.

Apparently this gets hot and expands, putting pressure on the tray to eject - has not happened to mine since I took it off.

edit - so same fix as the banned guy above
