PS4 Triple Beep/Disc Eject - WTF

I had this problem and doing this fixed it:
ps4_fix_blu_ray_remove_rubber_blocker.jpg

^This, and you could also (very lightly) tighten the screw of the disc eject.

Thats basically what has worked for me. I also added some lego bricks to hold my PS4 on all corners and have avoided using the eject button. Haven't had the eject problems and beeps for a least a year.

I've been having the beeping problem but it's not three beeps it's just one long beep like so *beeeeeeeep.* It happens every once in a while and kind of freaks me out. I have a PS4 Pro and it was last month, new. I did change the hard drive to a 2TB one. I've looked around everywhere for this specific one and couldn't find any answers.

Happens sometimes. Stupid design on the OG mode. It doesn't seem to be indicative of the console dying or anything but it's annoying for sure.

So does anyone know how much this costs to get fixed? Am I better off just buying a new PS4?

The screw thing used to work. Now it doesn't. Pulled the rubber foot out. Still does it.

I've had more problems with this piece of shit than I ever did with my 360.

I had to disable the eject button fully to get it to stop. All the other stuff didn't work for me. I didn't permanently disable it though. I used a tiny bit of electrical tape to cover a thing up. I couldn't tell you how to do it from memory, I followed a youtube guide.

Only video worth watching concerning this issue:

Ugh thanks. At this point I'm desperate. Feels kind of lame to have to have to straight up disable the eject button on my $400 console.

I had this problem as well. Had to keep screwing in the screw which feels like it's screwing in and very awkward to get. Needless to say, I traded it in for a pro when eb games had a promotion

I think it's actually the HDD, if you search for PS4 hard drive beeping you find a lot people with the issue.

As for disc ejecting, if nothing else works, try cleaning those stupid touch sensitive buttons.

I made an (extended) warranty claim based on this issue with the retailer I bought the PS4 from. Got a Pro for $80 AUS as a replacement. Pretty happy!

I'm sure whoever buys your broken PS4 will be happy.

I ended up selling mine back to Amazon and buying a new one. :(

I got my PS4 May 2015, it happened once like the week after I got it.

Then it never happened until about 2 days ago. Happened again yesterday. I usually just unplug the power cord when I'm done playing now.

Just to add evidence for the people saying remove the rubber foot that touches the eject button, that worked for me. I haven't seen the problem in about a year since doing that.

This doesn't work forever. I removed the eject button. That solved the problem. It can be removed and reattached without damaging the system.

How popular is this? My PS4 keeps doing this and I'm wondering how widespread this is.

Mine does it occasionally. Enough to be annoying when it happens but not enough that I thought that maybe I should look into why it's doiing it (I figured it's just a random glitch).

It's an overly sensitive eject button. Removing the rubber foot might not solve the issue. I tried everything, but only pulling out the eject button ameliorated the issue. Now the console ejects disks once a month or so, which is at least better than every few days. (Yes, the problem still persists)

I broke the eject button into nearly two pieces (it's snapped, but still connected together by a bit a plastic) when pulling the button, so be careful when removing the eject button.

It's happened to me twice in the past 3 years.

Both times, I ejected the disk, and shut the PS4 down.

I then remove the AC cord for about a minute, and plug it back in. Usually works fine after that.

Might be the only solution though. Mine was so bad I couldn't play a disc based game. I tried every single trick and nothing worked until I opened up the ps4 and disabled the eject button. Did this over a year ago and have not had a problem since.

Had this with my original model and just sent it in to Sony for a replacement. I ain't fixing their product for them.

Was it under warranty? If not how much did it cost?

edit: Nevermind, finally got through on the chat. FYI to anyone wondering, it's $99 plus taxes. I didn't even ask about who pays for shipping, I just thanked him and closed the chat.

This actually can vary based on the surface that the PS4 is placed on and the charge that it holds. False positive ejects can be issues with a tiny bit of electric through the capacitive sensor and as such if you turn it off for a long period of time, it will work as normal.

This is why the only true fix is to remove the button and cover up the sensor... but if you don't want to do that, do what I did...

When a quick fix doesn't work. Unplug it for 24 hours and then trade it in - it will pass their tests, then get a pro or a slim - getting a slim will significantly reduce you electric bill, it could even work out as a long term cost benefit. I know, it's an ass thing to do, I sold it to somewhere that gave people a 12 month warranty on purchase... morally grey...

Welp, it's been about 5 hours since the surgery and my PS4 hasn't ejected a single disc. So I'd consider that a success and the video posted worked like a charm. So thanks broskis.

I considered a trade but his fucker wasn't going to pass any tests. It's not worth the extra hundo I'd have to throw down for a slim anyway. I'd rather just keep this thing sans an eject button.

ya, all these videos and suggestions about the rubber footing, eject screw, unplugging the ps4 are placebos and the problem will return. the only way to fix this is to put a barrier between the button and the metal contact like electrical tape.

Bumping out of frustration. I'm gonna try this when I get the time. My PS4 has been getting worse and worse of late and I can't solve the issue. Tightening the eject screw and removing the rubber strip beneath the eject button have made no difference. As trivial as it is I'm even thinking of retiring it and getting a Pro.

is it an OG PS4 you have? mine was doing it. i tried turning the eject screw and it seemed to help for a while but ultimately nothing fixed it for me.

An OG white model, from whenever they hit the UK. Part of me wants to get a Pro now and this is a poor excuse to do so.

Well if you want a Pro I say get the Pro, but using electrical tape to fully disable the eject button totally worked for me. I think it's what that video you quoted is about (yeah).
damn thing would be beeping even if no disc was in it, tryin' to eject some shit!

I dunno now. This repair looks easy and saves me £350 quid for the replacement Pro. However, £350 gets me a Pro and with this quick repair I end up with a spare PS4 I can stick in another room maybe. #Paydayproblems

You could send me the £350 and not have to bother about what to do... Problems solved #thinkingwithsolutions.

This happened to my launch PS4 now and then. All i did was to pull out the power cord for a few minutes and it fixed the problem. It still happened some times after this as well, but after a while, the problem just went away.
