I remember the PS2 slim launched on the same day as San Andreas and Sony reaped the benefits.

I can see this happening.
 
XBone Date: 31 Oct. (useful for mnemonic marketing - 'last day of October')
XBone Price: Single SKU (console+XPad+Kinect 2.0) - $350, mandatory 24-month XBL Gold subscription.

PS4 Date: 28 Oct. (to get that jump...)
PS4 Price: Ehh, I'm going out on a limb here, but I'll cast my vote toward three SKUs (like I said in the remote play thread):
- Barebones (console+DS4) - $300 w/ 24-month PS+/Gaikai/wh'e ($400 w/o, in fine print);
- 'Wayfarer' (1TB version of Barebones+pre-refresh Vita) - $400 w/ 24-month PS+/Gaikai/wh'e ($550 w/o, in fine print);
- 'Crowd Pleaser' (1TB version of Barebones+PS4I+Move+Nav+2nd DS4) - idem above.

I'll either be horribly wrong or horribly right.
 
PS4 Date: November 12th
PS4 Price: $400 (Base) $500 (Premium)

XBone Date: September 17th
XBone Price: $500 ($300 with New XBL subscription)
 
PS4 Date: Nov. 19
PS4 Price: 480

XBone Date: Nov. 5
Xbone Price: 400

MS might even push up to October just to make sure they are first out. And my Sony price is them just keeping it under $500 even though they really want to charge that.

PS4 Price: $399/$499 (250GB base unit, 500GB w/game or PS+ premium)

XBone Date: October 25, 2013
XBone Price: $399 (one 500GB SKU)


MS will take a loss to get to $399 and only have one SKU for simplicity. Sony will take a loss on the $399 SKU, but offset it partially with a premium SKU.
 
Honestly a bit surprised at how many people think the 'Bone will be cheaper than the PS4. The machines are very similar, but one will have a much more expensive peripheral packed in (the PS4 Eye does not strike me as being nearly as costly as the Kinect). And I don't think either company will take much if any of a hit on the units - Sony because it hardly could if it wanted to and MS because it won't see the need, the believe strongly in the value of the Kinect.
