Yeah, we had data straight from SCE about this in March 2022.
I know for a fact that PS4 (released in Mainland China on March 20, 2015) had sold 1.5M units by August 2018, and then 3.5M units by December 2020. I wonder how much has PS5 sold yet over there?
I also wonder how much PS Vita sold in its 4 year lifecycle over there (it was released on the same day as PS4 in Mainland China).
The aim from the start was 7 million sold in China. So it’s on track for what Sony has hoped (double PS4 lifetime of 3.5million). It’s going to take a while to reach Europe/USA numbers, if it ever does.
It's not just marketing. It's real and significant development and publishing investment they're making in regions that have typically been left alone.
