The thread about the guy who never washes his bed sheets was also eye opening in the amount of consensus he got.

Let's not forget the thread about people seeking for like minds about watching pornography with sound blaring in a room they share with their sisters.

The lesson here OP is that commonality is the basis of understanding and these types of threads are fertile ground for people to build empathy and open the gateways of trust. If you follow it to its logical conclusion, these threads make a world a better place. You either support these kinds of thread or you're working with ISIS OP; take your pick.
