PSA: Wildermyth releases on consoles today….

If you haven't played it, you should, it's awesome.
I've always been curious about this one, it's great it's on console but beyond the usual 'does it play fine with a controller' I've read that it's amazing at first but after few hours the procedural generation used for the stories makes things very samey. In your experience, is that fair?

I haven't played in since launch when my pc shit the bed. But it in the 30 odd hours I played I didn't repeat any content that I recall.

Come on OP, you could at least provide a link and 1-2 sentences about what the game is and why you liked it.

Crap thread.

I'm at work and I needed to sound the clarion call!

Looks diverse AF, like Sweet Baby had a baby.

I don't remember a ton of "woke" stuff. A big tentpole mechanic of the game is the characters getting into relationships and having kids that you then control when mom n dad retire or die.
It's a fun game, kinda like a fantasy xcom with branching storylines and crazy shit happening.

I have the physical Switch version ordered. Not releasing until Nov 8th. Why are companies doing this late physical version release crap? Do they want people to double-dip? Never had issues with digital/physical simultaneous releases in the past!

Jeez, not very impressed with the port. Two crashes in the first hour and weird random slowdowns during battles. Playing on ps5, I wonder if the Xbox port runs better.
This game should run on a toaster, this is disappointing, especially after waiting forever for the game.
Hopefully we get some post release support.

Thanks for the update. I'm going to hold off until it gets patched.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Running into an issue with auto saves too. It keeps telling me to delete the saves instead of just overwriting them.
When you try to delete them it doesn't work….dunno if I'll have progress or not when I leave the game!
This thing is a hot mess, I really hope they fix it.

That's absolutely terrible and I don't understand how it runs so poorly on a PS5. It's a 3+ year old game and it's not really all that complex. Like you said, it should run on a toaster.

Yeah, thanks and I hope they sort it. I'm taking this off my wishlist, I just can't be done with supporting random devs anymore when stuff like this happens. As others said, the game is years old, is not demanding specs wise, and the console port has been in development for a long long time. Crashes are bad enough, but not even having saves sorted - that's unacceptable.

Forgetting about this one and back to looking forward to the Pro!

That's no excuse. Just go take a long dump and you'll have plenty of time for a quality post. Draugoth Draugoth takes 2x 15 minute shits every hour at his job.

Played some more last night and a little this morning.
I cannot speak for the Xbox or Switch versions, but steer far clear of the ps5 port, it is an unmitigated disaster. The crashes are the dealbreaker, I've had 11 of them in about 5 hours of gameplay.
The save bug that plagued my first campaign left it unplayable. Despite deleting the saves numerous times, the same 3 autosaves keep loading me right back into the deleted saves.
This problem has not repeated itself in the second campaign, but I have no idea what caused it in the first place.
Then there is the slowdown, why? This game should run on a phone from ten years ago, performance issues abound for reasons unknown.
Dunno if the dev did this port in house or it was shoveled off onto somebody else, but whoever is responsible for this mess should be ashamed of themselves. Apparently play testing or quality control was not their priority.

A damn shame. I posted this thread to hype a release I was excited for. Now it is here to warn people to stay the fuck away from this train wreck of an otherwise good game.

Really loved this game, one of my most played on the Steam Deck.

Might revisit on the PS5 and try out the coop. Anyone have experience with it?

I don't do multiplayer, but I think the console versions are local coop only, no online or cross play.
Stay far away from the ps5 version, see my posts above. I've shelved it as of this morning. Second campaign got soft locked in a combat encounter that crashes at the same point every time I load it.
If the devs care enough to fix this steaming pile, I'll add updates, but I ain't getting my hopes up.

Well that sucks. Have had it on my Steam wishlist for ages but thought I'd grab it on PS5 so I can play co-op with the girl but luckily I read this thread. Will avoid until they fix it.

If the devs don't fix something as broken as what you describe, I consider them to be running a scam on people ...i have felt similar stuff this gen ie Warhammer Inquisitor Martyrs $25 "next gen update" ...a screen tearing mess that was barely improved and never fixed. It's like Sony is consorting with them too with their disgusting "no refund policy". Sony allows people to be scammed on their platform.

At almost 50, I've never refunded a game in my life. If refunds were an option on Sony's store I would definitely refund this game.
And I've bought some stinkers before in the past, but this game is so broken that it is literally unplayable.
Last time I was this annoyed with a game purchase was the Diablo 3 launch on pc, where I couldn't even log in and play the game for a week or more because of the server launch issues.
