PSN, Battlenet, Riot, and others DDOSed; PSN returning lightly toasted with butter

A toss up if it stays up or not. They could just hit it again as they have been doing to a ton of other services all night.

At least it was short lived. I stand by my previous statement that "hacktivists" should reap what they sow and have their internet slowed to a crawl from constant DDOS attacks. See how they like it.

Not sure that's why it was a question. Possibly something that detects consistent ddos and a software or something that just prevents any more requests from that ip or something? I just remember ddos attacks being still a big deal in the 90s and yet here we are still talking about it

I'm gonna DDOS my local McDonald's today because I'm enraged. I'm gonna order so much shit and cancel and customize till their system overloads.

Its because gamers tend to be more connected to the internet, so pull down a gaming service and all of the players come online looking for answers, which for these guys means more attention.

Pull down the site of some corrupt bank or whatever, and it'll make the news a few days later (maybe), but the majority of clients arent going to jump onto the internet instantly with their reactions.

Also theres clearly fanboy shit going on here too. Take PSN down, get Xbox & PC fanboys patting you on the back & following you on twitter.
 
Is it possible to get law enforcement to contact twitter and get IPs of these jackholes? I would feel better about life if I knew there was a good chance at snaring them.

And you know if you catch one, they roll over on there accomplices every single time because they are really just internet tough guys that think theyre untouchable. Throw them in the Sony dungeon like those lulzsec assholes from the big outage
 
They are hitting Runescape now apparently. People bout to lose a lot of money.

In Runescape you have a limited amount of time to get back to your corpse or everything you had except the 3 most expensive items disappears. If it goes down for more than 15 minutes you are fucked.

Good news, bad new situation I guess. They probably won't bring down PSN when Destiny comes out. But PSN will definitely die anyway. It's basically a house of cards. The slightest breeze will take it down.

I dont know much about these things, but i'd assume a ddos attack doesnt come from a single IP.

If they are able to organize large scale DDos attacks they probably know how to use a proxy lol.
 
So it's possible other people might have issues but this should work for most people.

1. Before turning on PS4 unplug it from the router or turn off the router if it's connected via wifi and then you should be able to log in fine.

2. Then go to settings > network > uncheck "connect to the internet" and everything should work fine after that. Well anything that doesn't actually need to be online anyway.

The simple reason is that while there have been improvement . all of our current internet infrastructure is still built on top of the old one from the Late 80- early 90s.

and as i said earlier , unless there is an complete overhaul on how the internet functions .DDoS attacks will keep happening.

Verizon and ATT have tons of people always connected to the Internet? Why not give those customers something to chat about and wage war with them, especially when one of them is a huge reason why net neutrality is at risk right now? People are going to rage regardless and if they were doing this for kuddos, then why is the earthquake in Cali trending more than these customer outrage?

Really, it's pathetic and just shows what a waste these guys are when trying to get gaming fanboy fave points. Between this and that Zoe Quinn bull, the industry is getting more immature every day.

Tried connecting to the app on my phone this morning multiple times and now finally it tells me that it's undergoing maintenance.
