What do I get out of thinking about it on a Sunday?
Why is it always the PSN that attracts these scum?
giving sony 8:00am est to fix it. not 8:02, not 8:12, not 8:36, at exactly 8:00!
They do this during Destiny launch and I will personally enlist to find these ass hats and deny them life giving oxygen.
How should "technology" prevent this, exactly?
Yep, same here. Also getting the mainteance notification when trying to connect to the US PSN.It's not back up everywhere yet. I'm in the UK and I still can't connect
*Edit* Just tried to sign in and getting a maintenance message
Got kicked offline while playing DeadNation lounge co-op with nephew, it went straight to a hard freeze and i couldn't turn it off at all.
Had to turn the power off at the wall socket only to re-start with a blue wave screen. After several failed attemps at re-starting i was told by support to try safe mode and Initialize PS4.
Haha now i have the XMB menu working again but with all my games gone. Can't wait to re download TLoU and all other digital games again.
Its because gamers tend to be more connected to the internet, so pull down a gaming service and all of the players come online looking for answers, which for these guys means more attention.I'm chill, I just find the statement to be asinine. Why come for the gaming companies with these stupid ass attacks when far worse things need exposure. Net neutrality is a big deal right now and instead of them fighting for the people's rights , they'd rather take down things that people work hard to afford. I get its for the lulz but the fact that gaming companies always suffer bullshit like this, it's really saying something.

I dont know much about these things, but i'd assume a ddos attack doesnt come from a single IP.Not sure that's why it was a question. Possibly something that detects consistent ddos and a software or something that just prevents any more requests from that ip or something? I just remember ddos attacks being still a big deal in the 90s and yet here we are still talking about it
Is it possible to get law enforcement to contact twitter and get IPs of these jackholes? I would feel better about life if I knew there was a good chance at snaring them.
And you know if you catch one, they roll over on there accomplices every single time because they are really just internet tough guys that think theyre untouchable. Throw them in the Sony dungeon like those lulzsec assholes from the big outage

Pull down the site of some corrupt bank or whatever, and it'll make the news a few days later (maybe), but the majority of clients arent going to jump onto the internet instantly with their reactions.
Also theres clearly fanboy shit going on here too. Take PSN down, get Xbox & PC fanboys patting you on the back & following you on twitter.
Is Sony still going through with their planned maintenance once this gets resolved?
... Why?They are hitting Runescape now apparently. People bout to lose a lot of money.
So it's possible other people might have issues but this should work for most people.
1. Before turning on PS4 unplug it from the router or turn off the router if it's connected via wifi and then you should be able to log in fine.
2. Then go to settings > network > uncheck "connect to the internet" and everything should work fine after that. Well anything that doesn't actually need to be online anyway.
How far up? I'm in Yonkers and same here.i don't think its back up here on the east coast, up state ny.
8.11 am.
