PSN, Battlenet, Riot, and others DDOSed; PSN returning lightly toasted with butter

The precedent has been set. What apology gifts do I get this year, Sony?

Going by that logic, they could have chosen XBL for a target as well, but they didn't, which raises few questions about their agenda.

Maybe that's the point, and they can't take down XBL.

Come on Sony, invest some of that extra PSN money into better servers.

On a more serious note, this should serve as a warning to developers who try to ship their games with an always online requirement. Don't do it, doesn't matter what you're trying to achieve when all it takes for the game to become completely useless is some lame ass cunts who have nothing better to do.

Not defending Sony on this but how does better servers drastically fix this if it really doesn't matter how much you have? Amazon could still get hit with a DDOS (I think they have before) and it would still go down, despite the fact that they have one of the biggest server farms in the country.

Just curious, since sad little shits like these have nothing better to do but limit our options of how to spend our Sunday, and it also appears to be rather easy for them to DDOS the crap out of anything they want, why can't talented hacker turn the tables on them? What's stopping someone with the know how from shutting guys like this down on the spot?

Jesus always the Juniors with these ridiculous post. Do you even know what a Ddos is?

Seriously? Enough of the snobbery towards Juniors. When neogaf starts making you attend interviews and fill out long, detailed application forms to become a full member, then you may start acting like a snob. Until then, stop acting like stupid posts are exclusively the product of juniors. I'll just leave you with this...

Sounds like hardcore Xbox fans are angry. Can't see any other motivation for such an attack. It's sad, whatever their reasons are.

Yup. Better servers wouldn't do much at all concerning DDoS.

Bottom line, everyone: We're just going to have to ride this one out.

LMFAO at people's credit card info being at risk from a DDOS attack :D

I also heard having your picture taken steals a piece of your soul ;)

Well, they tweeted "PC MASTERRACE" ...

Not to get bogged down too much in the shit, but...

Just based on personal experience, in the past year or so I've noticed a lot of people on places I frequent who were notable full bore Xbox warriors now identify themselves primarily as 'PC gamers' yet spend most of their time running defense force duty for Xbox One despite that. This also applies to a number of posters on GAF here I believe. Just sayin'... it's easy to claim something, but that doesn't make it true.

I wouldn't take anything these bored little clowns say at face value basically.

It takes longer to write that sentence and then post it than it takes to google it and find out what a ddos is...

Alright, so that makes it acceptable to be a dick does it?
People are wayy too up in other people's shit on this forum. You can guarantee he wouldn't have spoken like that to somebody's face.

Enough thread derailing anyway.
I just take issue with people being aggressive for the sake of it.

cant sign here (south america), was going to play some lou online :(
also i see that console warz has already appeared on this thread. figures it would.

I'm form Italy: PS3 network service works fine (did some DaS2 PvP and everything worked perfectly), the PS4 one is still down as well as Vita.

To be fair, knowing how a ddos attack works doesnt really mean you know that its really hard/nearly impossible to prevent.

Though really i think that most people saying stuff about Sony not investing in "ddos protection" are comments from people who already have a axe to grind with Sony and are just taking potshots.

They're gaining a lot of twitter followers because of this. Looks like they got what they wanted. Good job to all those who hit the follow button... derp

Let's not start console war the situation and leave it at an immature group who really aren't contributing anything to the good of society when we most need it, but have better time on their hands to get a reaction from some fanboys. It's really ridiculous..

They do not represent the entire Xbox club or the PC club.

PC = Microsoft = Xbox.

Isn't our personal info actually safer with a ddos attack since no one outside can access their servers to try to properly hack them?

Also, it was affecting battle net all day yesterday and I could only play diablo for like 30 minutes. Those assholes.

I am able to sign in and browse the store on the vita in germany. Are the things affected online play and purchases then?

Guys enough with the "XBOTS DID IT"... its more likely that since the US Govt uses MS's infrastructure for some things, the hackers are a bit too scared to go after them. Im pretty sure they dont want the feds stepping in, because then they WILL be caught

Guys I can confirm that PC gamers in collaboration with Microsoft, Masons and the Reptilians did this because we were salty about a poll on GAF. Sorry, but you brought this on yourselves.
