PSN, Battlenet, Riot, and others DDOSed; PSN returning lightly toasted with butter

I've been running a countertrace on Web 2.0 but they irrigated the hyperlinks and dove into the deep web. I may have to enhance the polarity of the bit matrix before they can manage to wipe their botprints clean from the information superhighway.

*types furiously*

You'll never catch them like that! You need to triangulate the signal first.

Why didn't they hack Nintendo instead?! Or Steam, or Ouya...
These hackers need to be dealt with, asap. But Sony is also at fault for being hacked so easily. This would've never happened with XBL.

Screw those hackers.

WOW.
such ignorance.

The PSN seems to work fine here in Finland, as I've been using the Netflix app yesterday and today. There's been some hitches though, where the picture quality goes down.

No way is this serious. Please tell me that was sarcasm...

C'mon guys lighten up in these harsh times. Don't you get a sarcasm meter when joining GAF? I'll leave :(

Lmao. My sarcasm detector is clearly broken.

:P

I love this post.

Anybody else having trouble turning their PS4 off? Mine has been flashing the white light trying to go into standby mode for about 15 minutes now.
Yes. I had this problem. Physically unplugged it. Started again, stuck on blue wave screen. Again, physically unplugged it. Also couldn't turn it back on. Came to Gaf and saw this thread. Took the following steps:

1. Remove any physical disk from drive if it allows u to eject.
2. Disconnect any usb connected devices, including controller and headphones.
3. Disconnect Ethernet cable.
4. System will now power on. Reconnect DS4 when prompted.
5. System goes to safe mode, restores HD.
6. System boots to main xmb.
7. Go to settings. Uncheck the connect to internet box.

You should be fine from here until they resolve this issue.

Today was the only day this week I could login and play some Battlefield, and it was double XP weekend. So much for that.

I don't think it is a humanity issue, more like a young male issue.

It is probably a good thing that women as a group will be dominant in a few decades if recent trends continue. Women are better able to adapt and compete in non-religious, post-industrial societies.

Lol this is great. I love GAF

You know how hard sarcasm is to detect on the internet. Especially when there are a ton of people genuinely confusing this for a hack.
There is some truth to that but I thought it was pretty obvious as some members were crying "hack, hack" in the last few pages even though others were being corrected constantly. We live in a world where guessing someone's password is considered "hacking" though...
But the reactions are pretty fun nonetheless, the OP should be updated, or even better, the topic title. My apologies for stirring shit up haha.

Don't forget the river of binary flooding your screen.

As for this not being a hack, why is everyone getting so caught up on terminology? Not everyone here knows the difference between the two.

I tried booting up to play single player mode. Looks like you can't even get to the menu without psn. Ea servers can't be reached in FIFA either. Fuck this stupid not-a-hack attack

These posts just keep delivering

Can't believe so many people are confusing DDOS, which could easily happen to any company and is no risk to security, to being hacked.

Still unfortunate though.

I would have imagined larger portion of the posters here would understand what a hack vs a dddos attack is. The average gamer is probably much worse too.

Every. Single. Page. It's not a hack damn it. It's a DDoS Attack overloading the servers. Educate your self before posting stupid posts.

Angry nerds are angry.

I don't get why you'd want to have a DDoS attack on PSN but okay. People need to learn what a DDoS attack is, it's not a hack.

Actually you need to access data point 15 and open up the network so it can bounce off the satellite relays.

Ok. Sounds like we have a plan. Now we need to keep them online long enough until our counter worm is uploaded. Hide it on a Kaz funny gif.

So I can't access PSN because some young asshole, who has a limited worldview simply because they've only been on the planet a few years, is making a statement about greed. That's fucking awesome. Thanks, internet.

Trying to play TLOU: Left Behind.
But even trying to get onto the main screen is proving to be a pain in the ass?
Am I supposed to disconnect my ethernet cable or something?

That's what always gets me. They're always trying to "make a statement" but the statement, as far as I am concerned, is that Sony are happy to provide me the service I pay for, but these people don't want me to be able to use it. They are wasting my time and money, not Sony. Or Blizzard. Or Microsoft. Or anyone else who gets DDoSed.

I didn't make the pics myself, took them from a web-security website. But you are right.
Actually it's correct. It is saying a hacker hacks into other machines to turn them into bots that carry out DDoS attacks on a target, not that the target is hacked.

Seriously why not perform this not-a-hack on world bank, debeers, Exxon, [insert major telecom or cable corporation here]?

i dont even know what DDOS stands for. really its not my responsibilty to know.

just like its not my responsibility to know why my brand new car has a check engine light on.

the general consensus is that something is wrong with the engine when a check ENGINE light comes on when actually the gas cap was not tightened and your leaking from the evap system

Thank you. Other posters are really up in arms about this and are saying we should do research on the topic "before making stupid posts." Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

Because PSN has already been hacked once and credit cards numbers and other user information was lost. So saying this is a hack will make people think a similar thing will happen. DDOSing is not hacking.

I don't understand how typing ddos into wikipedia is onerous. Willful ignorance is seriously one of the worst things ever and your analogy is completely irrelevant.
