edit: 360 logs in fine. Haven't checked Xbox One, I imagine it probably works.

edit: XBO also signed right in, downloading a game seems to work. I've heard D3 doesn't, but I'm going to try once this downloads.

Yes, I didn't enjoy inFamous: Second Son, but I fell in love with the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 version, Resogun, and The Last of Us Remastered.

FFXIV PS4 - 9.0/10
TLOU PS4 - 8.5/10 (TLOU got #2 best game of 2013 from myself and our staff)
Resogun PS4 - 8.0/10

So if DDoSing is so easy to do in general and Sony is plainly susceptible to it, then what's keeping assholes from doing this before every big Playstation release?

Microsoft has a big server farm, dont forget that.

At this point i dont think this is one script kid must be a group of them with massive bot networks otherwise they probably wouldnt be able to keep psn down and hit xbox live quite well.

First, the reason why MS has the ability to "handle" these attacks, as you say, is because they have an absurd amount of servers. Those servers do not exist solely for the sake of XBL, but they are also used for it. This makes it more difficult to take down than other services. It's not a simple matter of software or security measures, it's a matter of scale.

Keep this in mind: banks have been successfully DDOSed multiple times. You'd think that being able to access your money through the web would be more important than gaming, why then don't they have this "ability" you speak of to mitigate the threat?
