PSN connection problems (12/24)

What?! Some people still can't sign in? What is going on? This is kind of crazy now. I'm in, and have been since Saturday...Has anyone tried to test their connection to see if that works? Usually I do that for the internet to re-ping back to their servers if I'm not getting anything.

Connection test fails at the PSN sign-in stage (server error).

Still only connects for me if I set MTU to around 1473. In Ohio here. Experimented and the MTU setting definitely determines if I can log in or not. If I set it to 1473 it works every time and store, trophies, etc work great, but if it is at 1500 or auto, won't log in no matter what. As others have said, I think this must have to do with some ddos mitigation somewhere along the route.

I cannot log in, ps4 detects connection perfect but fails trying to log. It logs in perfect on Vita and PC Store.

Same here, just tried setting it back to automatic (by choosing easy setup for my lan cable connection) and it fails at sign in to PSN with a network error, set it up manually and change MTU to 1473 bang I am in first time.

I can't believe Sony aren't talking about this? No one is going to find this by mistake or trial and error!

My concern is changing the MTU setting will have some adverse effect elsewhere. Plus, why should I need to f with settings and shit? Just work damn it!

To be fair you shouldn't have to, Sony shouldn't be advertising this as fixed until they have resolved it. It wouldn't surprise me if the status and @askplaystation reports are based off of internet chatter rather than what the engineers are saying!

Yeah, I'm not changing anything. As you said, we shouldn't have to and beyond that, my PS4 was going to be in sleep mode until The Order came out anyway so I'm not too fussed about this.

Not working for me.

When I try to enter the store it always asks me for pasword, and after I enter it, the circle spins for 20 second and I get an error. :/

Has anyone posted the MTU "fix" on Twitter? Perhaps it would lead their engineers in the right direction for coming up with a real fix? Maybe naive thinking on my part...

For anyone concerned about changing MTU having adverse effects, it won't. Although, once it's fixed you'll want to change it back to 1500. It's the max network packet size your console will accept, so for modern connections bigger will be better. It's more efficient and basically better network performance.

It's not going to break anything long term though. I agree it's bullshit and should be fixed, but you'll be okay until they do.

People should tweet someone about it... maybe they'll bloody fix it.

Have people tried logging out and then back in? That is what works for me. I switch users to my Japanese account and then log out there. This takes me back to my main and presto, PSN is as it should be.

Yup, same situation for me in Germany - without any MTU changes.

I wonder what the cause for the rather arbitrary outages for some users is.

I haven't touched the MTU settings either. I couldn't access the PSN store, or get Dragon Age to connect the EA servers, on friday and saturday, but after that it's been working as usual.

Finally was able to redeem my free code for FC4(voucher with a new system). Took nearly 5 days, but I'm downloading.

I tried to sign in yesterday without MTU and it just gave me the server errors, so i had to change back the MTU settings and once again it let me in. I would really like to see it working with the MTU in automatic (as it was before), so any help would be greatly apreciated.

at this point I'm ready to break down and fuck with the MTU settings, but I can't, because it won't let me change settings unless I'm signed in. and it won't let me sign in.

For those still having troubles signing back in to the PSN try this:

1. Power cycle(means to turn the power off to the devices wait for a couple minutes then turn them back on) your cable modem, router and PS4
2. Reset your PS4 internet connection by going to Settings> Network> Setup internet connection>Select wifi or lan cable> Easy.
3. Try changing your DNS servers to 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220

Well this is becoming a joke, though Im already in, and have had no trouble for the past 2 days (aside from disapearing 1 week off my ps+ but well), some of my friends are still having trouble...and what does Sony say ?! Nothing...not a single explanation...

Also, changing MTU settings or whatever it's called WILL cause lag online (if it works). Don't change those settings, just wait until it's all fixed.

So, see you in 2016.

it will probably increase packet fragmentation thus somewhat degrading network performance. how some of you guys make it seem worse than "not working at all" i really don't know :|

Anyone else having trouble redeemen cards ? I got a $20 card but keep getting error trying add it to my wallet.
