PSO Ep I & II Plus

Mejilan

Running off of Custom Firmware
I've actually been in the mood to start this game up for a couple of months now. I bought it when it first came out, but never even booted it up, since I sated myself on the first release of PSO for the GameCube like 2 years ago, or whenever it was.

So I started a new FOmar (offline only, won't be giving Sega any more of my money.) Having fun. It's certainly got a Diablo-esque ARPG/Dungeon Hack vibe to it which can be mindlessly fun if executed decently well.

However, I'm curious as to why I bought this game. What EXACTLY does it have that the first PSO for the GCN (and presumably the Xbox) don't have? I noticed that IGN never bothered to review I&II Plus.

Thanks in advance.

All online quests and those downloadable extras are available offline (in the game) now....I think.

Oh and didn't they fix the exploit?

Ah! Cool beans! One of the biggest things that stopped me from playing again before was thinking of all the content I wouldn't be able to access thanks to the fact that I wouldn't be taking it online.

Neato. That includes those "side story" quests that actually had new maps, new creatures, and such?

My FOnewearl has been sitting quiet for a while. I aught to boot up PSO again just for a larf one of these days.

Not even close. There's 4 "new" Offline quests. But 3 of those can (and should) be played online.

Episode 1 -

Central Dome Fire Swirl - (This was actually a d/l quest for the DC version and the XBOX version has it available for d/l to.)

The Fake in Yellow - This was always available offline but there is a slight change to it. Now when you start up the quest there's a download machine right outside the Hunter's Guild. You can use it to d/l the GBA mini-games Chao Garden, Puyo Pop, and NiGHTS - Score Attack -

Episode 2 -

Seat of the Heart - Very long story driven quest. If you've done the other offline subplot quests properly, this ties into those.

The East Tower - CCA & Control Tower East.

The West Tower - Seabed & Control Tower West.

Challenge Mode 2 - You can now do the Episode 2 Challenge Mode offline but this is only useful if you got friends to help.

Basically yay there's now offline Ep2 quests and you can access the previously online-only Control Tower stage through these. But the CT is a darn hard stage thats why I find it more fun online cause there at least ya got help.

They fixed the double save...but you only run into that if you go online. I think they fixed the offline duping trick at least.

I still play online and love it. Wish more were there though!

Woah honey, calm down. I said I think for a reason.

I hate PSO. By exploit I meant ahem ahem exploit.

I am way to hyper to be calm!!!!! I just got offline from playing PSO for the last 3 hours~me and my teammates were so dumb we got stuck in a quest for over 2 hrs until figuring out how to finish it! :lol

Oh oh OH! The eyepatch exploit? You'd hope they would fix that but nothings been said about it~

Yeah a whole lot and recent ones have been really great! If only "quest" gameplay had been integrated with "story mode" gameplay....well~a lot less people would be complaining about the simplicity of PSO.

I'm pretty sure that was fixed by disallowing connections from the private address range(192.168.x.x).

yeah, tons of online only content. the best stuff has been released within the last 6 months to a year.

they also fixed a bunch of minor stuff, such as removing some wierd blurry filter from the snapshot feature, so that snaps look much clearer (the UK version never had this issue, it was corrected before release), fixing the color of the small gem by the persons name who is the leader or creator of an online game room (red was allways supposed to be the color), and fixing some minor graphical things like making the ring around your character spin when you use a Photon Blast.

i just renewed my HL a few weeks ago to join a friend who was hitting 200. i havent played since though. maybe ill get a few hours in this week.
