PSP American Firmware 2.0 Released

I think I'm gonna delete my internet settigns in my PSP just to make sure I don't upgrade it ever

Danger, Danger!!!!

Update is only available through wireless network update through the PSP... as of right now. I'm sure they'll throw a downloadable version up soon, but nothing is there yet at the PSP website under downloads.

Also, if you've already updated your PSP to 2.0 with the Japanese version, the American version will not overwrite it. It will say that you have the latest version when you try to update it through the network update. Somebody at the Playstation Underground forums ran a checksum on both files and they are exactly the same. Once a downloadable version becomes available you can probably overwrite it, but it looks like there's no point in doing it.

Even if the PSP is plugged in it will not update unless your battery is fully (well... at least mostly) charged. Seems strange.

They want to be careful so that the PSP doesn't turn into a brick during the process

Firmware update=Powerloss=Very Bad.

It's just a safety feature.

For those of you who have the Japanese update, don't even bother. The US update won't overwrite the Japanese one, because it is same damn file.

Haha. Sony even said, "Using the Japanese firmware will void your warranty, so you should switch to the US 2.0 when it's released".

I'm aware of that, but what part of "won't overwrite" don't you understand?
I completely understand it, that was the grounds for my "haha". That they told users to overwrite it, and they can't.

Can someone please direct me as to where I can download the 1.5 firmware. I've just got a US launch model and want in on this homebrewing goodness. Thanks.

Edit:

Nevermind. Just checked the system info, turns out it's already got the 1.5 firmware installed. :)

I was unable to access the GAF forums. Said "cannot access server" or something. :(

The other pages I looked at were pixel-licking-perfect, though. Damn, my PSP is getting hawter by the day!

Has anyone verified with the US 2.0 firmware that with WPA activated infrastructure games can't connect?
