PSP based development?

OK, so with the PSP coming out soon do you think that we will see games that are made for the PSP first and then converted/ported to the PS2 and released at the same time? For example, when there are multi-platform titles made, most of them are made with the PS2 in mind because it is the minimum system spec. That is why some of those games look crappy on like lets say the Xbox or Cube.

Do you think many developers will do the same thing with PSP now, make it for that system first then make it for PS2? It would make sence money wise. Do you think that graphics would suffer at all? Just an idea I was wondering about.

Uh i really doubt people will play PSP games on the PS2. So far they look nothing like PS2 games at all.

Ridge Racer looks pretty "PS2" to me. Of course, we're talking about launch software that was probably coded with early dev kits with incomplete/inferior specs for the first 80% of the cycle. I bet that the average PSP game will look fully current gen within a year.

I think initially there will be pressure from Sony to do 'original' stuff. Some will actually be original, like Metal Gear Acid. Other will be 'modified' PS2 games, like GT4.

Later on, into 2006 after PS3 launch, PS2 will enter the phase where it gets less attention from the big guns, and less premier titles. Then I see PSP being really helpful in terms of lead development and then porting to PS2. That will help to keep PS2 going towards its intended 10 year lifecycle, and I'm sure Sony will use that as a way of keeping PSP dev. costs down by sharing costs across PSP and PS2 SKUs.
