PSP hardware problem...need possible advice?

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
For the last week or so I've been experiencing a frustrating bug with my PSP. Some games will freeze for a moment and then the unit will completely shut down. It's happened now with several different titles. It started with Madden which I thought might be a sign of the bugs it supposedly had, but now I think there must be a problem with the unit itself. I hate to trade it in even though I have a one year replacement plan, I'm just afraid I'll get stuck with a unit I like less (bad pixels, etc.). Are there any known issues out there right now that might be causing something like this? I bit the bullet about a month ago and upgraded the firmware to current as I wasn't terribly interested in emulation any longer.

Thanks for any help, I'll probably just go see how good the warranty is at EBgames today....as a side note, they won't expect me to return the unit with the free launch EVERYTHING will they? As in the Spiderman pack that was current at the time? Should I bring the old crappy memory stick, etc.? I'm honestly not 100% about which unit is current in stores anymore.

Is it going into sleep mode, or completely shutting down so it has to reboot from the beginning the next time you power it on?

If it was merely going into sleep mode, then I would guess that the switch on the right became ultra-sensitive. If this isn't a battery charging issue, then my guess would be that there's something wrong internally.

Could it be a bad battery losing connection? It might be annoying to try, but maybe try taking out the battery and seeing if it freezes and reboots with just the power cord plugged in.

good idea, I'll try it. Honestly though, I was holding it securely but gently when it happens.
