PSP Online - What works and what doesn't?

I know a lot of people have been having problems with Twisted Metal and getting it to play online. Are the other PSP online games also having problems? I know that four other games have online capabilities, ATV and the sony sports games, but haven't heard if they are working better. Anyone have any input?

Also, I read in another forum that someone posted that there problems went away when they switched from a Linksys Wireless Router to a different brand. (Belkin I believe). I'm using a Linksys router and having all kinds of problems with Twisted Metal. Sometimes I can connect and play a game just fine, but most of the time I get disconnected. What is everyone using for a wireless router, and how is it working for you?

I have a Belkin, Twisted Metal is broke as fuck on it. Any success you have is likely a freak period of luck.

Mine did too at first, but the next day it was back to usual antics, doh. I opened the ports and turned off the WiFi power saving as well.

I'm not having any problem connecting to the Lobby in TW:HO, I can't seem to find a game even when I select "quicksearch".

I know this is better suited for the online forum but would anybody be up for a game in the West Lobby titled "GamingAge"?

I'll try it out, Thom. Put a password on it though, like GA or something. Fills up fast, then everyone disconnects once the game starts, haha. :(

When I saw the thread title i thought it would be a list of websites that work with the Wipeout Pure web browser hack, I was dissapointed

my TW:HO name is "endtroducing" I think I see your game titled "GA" I've tried to join it a few times and it fails telling me it's either "full or invalid".

fucking annoying.

oh well let's keep trying

haha, i see wario.

edit: saw :(

My connection seems to be stable, but people crash off me a lot, awkward.

I tried as well, with the same result. It looks like the game is gone from the lobby now.

Edit: Actually, I got on once, then got booted from the lobby.

This game is going back to the store tomorrow.

Heh, I think I gotta get a new location for the router. Getting less than 50% signal strength..wonder if that's screwing me

Well I just finished a random DM game and it worked fine...

I have 100% signal strength, not that its helping me. =/ And yeah, mine is going back too, which is saying a lot considering I'm a big fan of the franchise.

Well, I was a big fan of Black. :p

The fact that with 100% signal strength I'm not able to connect to a single game pisses me off to no end.

How are you guys going to return this game? to what store? excuse?

I'd like to give this game the heave-ho and pick up untold legends.

No idea about that place, sorry. We just recently got an EB here, heh.

I got mine at Walmart which is cake unless you're in there like every week or something returning stuff.

Just have a reasonable excuse and tell 'em you wanna exchange it, if all else fails, talk to the manager as far as Walmart goes. :p I feel badly for abusing the system somewhat, but hey, it's walmart and I simply want a fucking game that works as advertised.

PS: You suck now, Incog. No War of the Monsters Online, shitty bike game, broken TM:HO. 0/3!

At any given time I get around a half dozen or more signals in my living room leeching off the neighboring apartments, some of which have no WEP and reach 70-80% strength. Yet I always get some weird 80146094809820 error if I try to connect.

Just curious, how are the endings in Twisted Metal? I don't think I like the game enough to play through all of story mode, but I recall enjoying the little subplots in the past.

I think everyone has an ending as per usual.

No intro, no mid-story break though like Twisted Metal: Black.

The overall plotlines aren't nearly as interesting either, I don't mind the shift back from dark and cruely ironic to silly wanton destruction but at least take advantage of the setting.

The game is also largely watered down because it's so much obscenely easier as well. What happened to the crazy TM difficulty?

Also, I don't care if they tried to revive TM2, these stages aren't half as interesting as Blacks. The bosses suck too, nowhere near as cool as Minion and Warhawk.

All this in conjunction with the fact that there's no easily accessible co-op, and no online play really sucks.

It's not a bad game, but it basicly devolved the series back to TM2. All that made it in from Black was the vehicle handling and the pretty missle trails.

You know... They can fix these issues, right? Why don't you give them time to iron them out before returning the fucking game.

They can? They don't have a patch delivery system, and there's NO ONE on the servers (about 120ish people on average) so I doubt it's their systems getting bogged down.

Experience with console developers tells me this shit usually *doesn't* get fixed as well. The broken online play is just a cherry on top of the dissapointing game for me, not the entire reason I'm returning it.

Easier just to pawn it off and walk away with a copy of Ridge Racer.

It is very frustrating when you're not able to take advantage of the best part of the game.. considering the 1P mode is pretty lame in comparison (way too easy, and bad endings also).

The levels also aren't what I was expecting. I wanted more TM2 ports. I was so very disapointed when I realized Tokyo wasn't a port of the awesome Tokyo level of TM2, with the huge dojo, subways, and a much more vicious darktooth. :/

*sigh* I want to play Twisted Metal 2 so badly now :P

Online play is very very fun though, when you can get it to work that is. Which, for me, is about 10% of the time. :( Even Ad-Havoc deathmatch is a shitload of fun though.

Hey guys, I know the whol Web Browsing on PSP has already been posted but it's easy to surf the web than you think. (you need wip3out of course)

Go to the DNS setup, set your Primary DNS server to 67.171.70.72. Go to the Download section onn wipeout. Voila! You'll see this website. From there you can do just about anything.

EDIT: wait a sec, is this GAF's fugimax? I found this on some other forum :lol

So, it's clear that pretty much everyone is having problems with TM, which I bought mainly for the online play. I've opened up the ports and put the IP in the DMZ as well, and while I can get it to work every once in awhile, most of the time I lose connection, which is disappointing considering how much fun it is when you do get into a game.

So are there problems with the Sony sports games as well? I haven't heard of anyone playing online with them yet. How about ATV? The ability to play online has me excited for the future of the PSP, but right now it's a big disappointment. I'm sure it'll get better, the question is can THIS game get better. Like someone else has already said, there is no real way to patch the game, although Sony's network may not be optimized yet or the PSP may need a firmware upgrade to improve WIFI performance.

Someone should create a portal that matches the OS colours for the different months. In fact, I'll prob create my own portal that does that. Does anyone know where I can find exact matches of the different colours?
