This folks is why you wait.
Waiting isn't going to help necessarily with this particular problem. Unless Sony starts throwing out a greater percentage of the screens during testing, things will not improve. It's more of an economic issue than a technical one.

see if some pays the exact same amount of money for the psp as this guy did shouldnt they expect to get the exact same result?
Should I complain at McDonald's when I see them giving out 3 more french fries to a guy besides me who orders the same trio ? After all, I paid the same amount of money as him.

My EBGames.com order arrived today, as scheduled.

The PSP has TWO fucking gashes on the screen, and SIX fucking dead pixels.

Taking this to my closest EB store tomorrow for an exchange.

Posted this in another psp thread but this thread is more appropriate so i'll just cut and paste.

Can any EB employees confirm this?

I just got off the phone with my local EB; told them about my single dead pixel and asked them about the 14 day return policy. According to her, I'll have to go through Sony to get the psp replaced even if I wanted an exchange for another psp? the dead pixel isn't bothering me much but do I really have to go through Sony even after the 14 days? I have the 1yr replacement plan by the way.

I went to my EB today to pick up a few games and a new case for the PSP. My PSP came in the mail today, with 2 ugly scratches and 6 dead pixels.

Even though I didn't know this yet, I asked the manager there what their return policy was. He told me that they WOULD take defective PSPs (and he stressed this included dead pixels) within that 14 day period (1 year for the EB warranty buyers), even from online purchases.

Beat that horse down!

Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It

Oh, the horse is dead already...

So far so good with my unit. I bought mine at BlockBuster after I was reassured that they would replace any pixel problems by giving me a new PSP or in store credit. This is up to 90 days.

Mine is fine but my brother has like 6 or so stuck pixels on his machine... He was pretty pissed... but he'll probably take his back.

I think anything greater then 5 should be warrented for a replacment. But people bitching about 1 or 2 really need to get a life.

Mine has 2, but the only way i'd notice them is if its a solid color and or i'm looking for them. My LCD projector has dead pixels too, but I don't notice them barely ever either. Its a fact of LCD technology.

damn, i'm so fucking glad i got no dead/stuck pixels, because i was rearing to be really pissed off

but hey, i did get screwed by buying a $18 'gold plated camera replacement usb cable' at radio shack because gamestop and target were out of usb mini-b cables

and LOL @ all the people sayign "thats why you wait" ... unless they mean "wait until sony has a replacement plan that is on par with nintendo's instead of vastly inferior"

Do dead pixels appear after prologned use? Because i have had my GBA SP for years and it is in mint condition.

My PSP has two or three dead pixels. As worried as I was about them, though, they really don't bother me. Like others have said, you really have to be looking for them to see them.

I did buy the ESP at Gamestop though so, what I'm planning to do is, just wait until the warranty period is almost up, and then go up to the store and say the dead pixels have just started appearing. Ta da, new PSP for me.
