Mario 64 bundle was scanned as DS + game and not just DS game bundle.Dalthien said:Sorry - I wasn't trying to get into a PSP-DS war. The two systems are basically in a dead heat when it comes to software anyway. I was trying to get some bundle information out of Sonycowboy if that was possible. If I remember correctly, the Mario Kart bundle may have came out after the Nov NPD period ended, but I still have to think that the Nintendogs and Mario 64 bundles must have sold at least 100,000 or so bundles. Any confirmation, Sonycowboy?

PhoncipleBone said:I have tried the new games out, and honestly, they are not enough to compel me to keep the machine right now. I have tried almost everything on the system and it still does not change my opinion on it. I picked up Virtua Tennis the other day, but even that isnt enough for me to say "lemme keep it"
Ponn01 said:What else have you tried? What type of games do you like?
PhoncipleBone said:I have tried Battefront II(have the console one, same price, better game), XMEN Legends II, Burnout(I have trouble adjusting to that analog honestly), The Con(the ripoff is more like it), Grand Theft Auto(not a fan of the series but thought I would give it a shot), Legenday Heroes(meh), Kingdom of Paradise(again, meh) Rengoku sucked. MG Acid was mediocre, not my cup of tea. Death Junior was alright.
Sports bores me, as does most racing(except Burnout at home.) Wipeout and Ridge Racer were both great, but not enough for me to keep them. Virtua Tennis is loads of fun, but my friends couldnt get it so no multiplayer love for me.
The only thing that is making me want to keep it is Katamari coming soon. If I sell my system I am going to keep my copies of Lumines and Hot Shots for when I rebuy it, but really my bills are needing paying and this looks like the best solution, as there isnt anything for a while coming to it that I am really excited about. My DS is getting all the love lately though.
kevm3 said:The main problem with the PSP right now is the PRICE. The games are coming in slowly but surely, but the price is what is keeping most people from buying the thing. $250 for the value pack, plus another 50 for a game you want and you're looking at $300. That's quite a bit of money considering that 300 could buy you an Xbox 360.
Once Sony manages to lower the price, we'll see a lot more PSPs being bought.
What now? I have a DS. I also have a GC, as well as all of the other current gen platforms.Oblivion said:Now you know how GC fans felt when that excuse was used against them. :lol

Probably because it's just a phrase used in place of the many ways that nintards say that general statement when asked why they don't have/like PSP.elostyle said:Alright, so I did a search for "PSP has no games" and the first occurance was from a sony bot. Second one was Olimario announcing that he is going to sell his DS for a PSP and the 3rd one was Wario posting PSP/DS software sales.
Exactly why is it worthy of being a phrase used to defame nintards in a sarcastic way in every other thread?
dot-Nick said:I have never seen a good looking "converted" video on the PSP. If it isn't a UMD video, I hasn't been impressed.
The PSP is basically a... brick for me. I'm upset that the ghosting gets so bad on everything that I do that I don't even bother to pick it up anymore.
Mook1e said:Probably because it's just a phrase used in place of the many ways that nintards say that general statement when asked why they don't have/like PSP.
"The games don't appeal to me"
"There's nothing to play on PSP"
"There are no games worth playing on PSP"
"I don't like PSP games"
Etc... are all linked to
"PSP has no games"
Point is that such a generalization is bad, especially when used repeatedly and even when not appropriate. There was a time when the DS lineup sucked for months and a lot of similar threads were made about it and it was justified - just like in the psp's case. Just this beating of dead and burried horses can get very annoying.Mook1e said:Probably because it's just a phrase used in place of the many ways that nintards say that general statement when asked why they don't have/like PSP.

Yeah, on both ends of course.elostyle said:Point is that such a generalization is bad, especially when used repeatedly and even when not appropriate. I think I agree with him on both accounts. If you count the portable DVD players then, no I guess. But those portable DVD players are not really all that portable in my opinion. PSP has a pretty good balance between the screen size and unit size, not to mention the screen quality. For games, between the PSP games and emulated stuff I've never used or seen a better handheld gaming device. The best part is, it just keep getting better, what through system updates, what through homebrew - web broser, internet radio, podcasts...Shogmaster said:OH. My. GOD. You must be fucking joking.....
How is the ghosting? That really... really bugs the crap out of me.Amzin said:I just got a bigger memory stick for christmas, and I've been using PSP Movie Creator to great effect. I've got a couple episodes of the simpsons on there that look perfect, and I've got Boondock Saints on there at a lower quality, but it's still good. When I was toying with it, I could pretty easily notice the difference between 15 and 29 fps even on the Simpsons. With a 1gig stick though you can fit a full quality movie on there. It does take a while though, about 40 minutes for the movie, 6-10 minutes for the episodes.
There may be an even better conversion to get DVD's onto the PSP, but this is the easiest I think.
As far as the main discussion, I'm happy with the games I've played so far, and there are more out there I want to buy when I get the money to spare. I'll probably pick up X-men legends for it very soon.
Been seeing them at Best Buys and Gamestops and such since roughly beginning of December.Mashing said:And where the fuck are the PSP kiosks? I've never seen one
Quite common here in europe (germany)Mashing said:And where the fuck are the PSP kiosks? I've never seen one
Well, obviously, the screen is much bigger on the PSP, and it's also 24bit color vs. 16 bit on Ipod, and it also has with very high quality color reproduction - still best among handheld machines that I've seen. It's also widescreen which is great for most movies and TV shows nowadays. On a negative size, the bigger screen means bigger device - Ipod video is considerably smaller and thinner.catfish said:lets pretend it's not a gaming machine, how does it stack up vs the ipod video? I just got one of these for christmas and I love it. Obviously PSP is going to trounce it screen wise, but in all other aspects how does it fare?

Fusebox said:Well the beauty of the PSP is that you can use it for either of those purposes depending on your requirements at the time and it does both jobs equally as well. Best portable movie player on the merket, best portable games device on the market.

I'm not really sure if there's any PDA that can straight out play DivX/Xvid files you'd encode off your DVD movies (720x480, 5.1 audio, 1200-1500kbps bitrate). Codec might be the problem just for audio, so you'd have to re-encode. Not to mention Hi-Def TV shows, what PDA can chew on HD video? Besides, PDA screens are still pretty sucky.bionic77 said:Ipod video and PSP suck for video because of how much of a pain in the ass it is to get video onto them. I would say that high end PDAs are the best portable movie players on the market at the moment.*
* The PSP can obviously play UMD movies as well which require no fuss, but I am referring to playing movies off of the memory stick.

I haven't seen them at Circuit City, but I could point you to a couple BB's and Gamestops in Southeast PA where I've seen them.Mashing said:EB Games, Circuit City and Best Buy nearest me don't seem to have PSP kiosks setup. Nor does Walmart. Strange.

1280x720 DivX playback on X50 (scaled down to it's screen resolution of course)? That would be very impressive.bionic77 said:My Axim x50v plays pretty much anything I have thrown at it (which is mostly TV shows that look Hi-Def on my laptop).

Basically. DC vs PS2 was the worst I think, though DS vs PSP's gotten more out of hand than GC vs Xbox imo.sonycowboy said:I suppose this always happens at transition times.

Welcome to the next level. Man, even worse than the DC Vs PS2 "debate" was the fallout later on. Poor SEGA fans... Nintendo fans have it easy in comparison.mckmas8808 said:It's like all of those people were arguing for nothing.
