PSP recommendations

I dont think it is immersive but LocoRoco 2 is awesome.

Burnout Legends damn fine.

edit:
Siphon Filter
Rachet & Clank: Size Matters
Demo for Jax & Daxter is also pretty good, but I haven't played the full game.

If you like digital pinball that Gottlieb collection is heavenly.

I'd recommend the LocoRoco games, the Syphon Filter gamers and Daxter. Not sure if they are the immersive games you are looking for, but they are great, so worth a try. I think they all have demos except maybe Daxter, so at least give them a try.

Tetris the Mini, Space Invaders Extreme and Grip Shift along with Lumines (which you already mentioned) are the must owns for me.

Immersive? Can't get much more immersive on PSP than Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Monster Hunter (or Phantasy Star, personally I'm a PhanFan), the Ready At Dawn games (God of War: Chains of Olympus, Daxter, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta), and the Sony Bend games (Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow, and Resistance Retribution).

Addicting games for me include the likes of Hot Shots Golf Tennis, LocoRoco 2 (or Midnight Carnival), Pac-Man CE, and Tetris.

There's a lot of RPGs on the platform, but from the games you've already chosen it doesn't appear you're into them.

Persona 3 Portable. If you don't like turn based RPG's then Half Minute Hero or Wipeout Pure. There's not much on the PSP, as far as immersion goes, I don't think. Valkyria Chronicles II or the Metal Gear games, I guess.

Monster Hunter, of course.

Besides that though I enjoy Hot Shots Tennis and Peace Walker quite a bit. There is really a lot of great content on the PSP though, and if you buy your games on PSN you'll be all set for the NGP when it arrives.

DJ MAX Fever is fantastic if you like rhythm games. (And if you want Lumines, you'll love it.)

Portable 3 is flashy, but Fever is better.

Half Minute Hero is another great gem, as are Crisis Core and Disgaea. (They're certainly addictive.)

MGS Peace Walker should satisfy your need for immersion. Really one of the best games for the system. Crisis Core is another must-have imo. Very cinematic and has great production values. Also quite a lot of optional content, with hundreds of side missions you can take outside the main story.

Crush
Exit & Exit 2
Field Commander
Castlevania: Dracula X chronicles
Motorstorm artic edge
MGS : peace walker
Jeanne d'arc
God of War CoO&GoS
Lumines

Definitely check out the minis like Age of Zombies, Coconut Dodge, Echoes, Flying Hamster and Monsters (probably) Stole My Princess. They're on sale regularly so keep an eye open.

Here is my must haves:

God of War: Chains of Olymps
God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Resistance: Retribution
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
LocoRoco
LocoRoco 2
LocoRoco Midnight Carnival (PSN)
Patapon
Patapon 2
Hot Shots Tennis Get a Grip
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
WipEout Pulse
Burnout Legends
Space Invaders Extreme
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
Killzone Liberation
Daxter
Puzzle Quest (Why the fuck didn't the PSP get PQ2?)
Grant Theft Auto Vice City Stories
Lumines
Hot Shot Golf Open Tee 2
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Motorstorm Arctic Edge
Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier
Gran Turismo
Valkyrie Chronicles 2
Fat Princess
ModNation Racers
Echoshift (PSN)

I fucking love my PSP, it's weird that the most popular genre the PSP has- RPGs/SRPGs is what I cannot get into lol.

Yeah, Peace Walker should be a good pick for some action and immersion.

My two favorite PSP games so far are Half-Minute Hero and Persona 3 Portable - two solid RPGs that that feel just right on a portable platform, especially Half-Minute Hero. Great pick up and play kinda game right there with a bunch of different genres dedicated to short bursts of fun and humor.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Half-Minute Hero

Megaman Maverick Hunter X

Ys Seven (plus Oath in Felghana and I & II Chronicles if like)

Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles

Valkyria Chronicles II

and to stay away from the obvious:

I'd love to explore the RPGs but I'm very picky with RPGs. I can't stand long boring dungeons.

Aren't there any good ADVENTURE games for the PSP?

heres my top 5 games

1) Monster Hunter: freedom unite - 300 hours still best MH on the go
2) GTA : Liberty & Vice city stories - short missions play to platform
3) FFVII: crisis core - fab game good production values
4) MGS : peace walker
5) LocoRoco / LocoRoco 2

any of these games are easily some of the best this gen

Mind giving us an example of Adventure games you enjoy? There's rarely any sole adventure games anymore, as they're always lumped with another genre.

My top 5 crucial picks would be

1: Peaceru Walkeru
2: Ys 7
3: Megaman Maverick Hunter X
4: Crimson Gem Saga (Old school delicious RPG with a bat shit insanely awesome ending)
5: Half Minute Hero

Half Minute Hero
Peace Walker
Ys Seven
Valkyria Chronicles 2

Check out Ys Seven then. I wouldn't call the dungeons in that game long by any means, and the boss fights are awesome. If you like it, then try Oath in Felghana and I&II.

Ys: Oath in Felghana, best action-adventure there is. I see people recommending Ys Seven, I'd recommend Oath in Felghana before that one - Ys Seven is much more RPG-like, with like 40 minutes of talking to people before you can even experience the actual gameplay.

Some suggestions from different genres (i know you mentioned some of these already)

Final Fantasy Tactics
Tactics Ogre
Disgaea 1 or 2
Jeanne d'Arc

Burnout Legends
Twisted Metal Head On
Ridge Racer

MGS Portable Ops
MGs Peace Walker
Both God of War games

Lumines
Hot Shots Golf
Prinny 1 and 2 (if you can handle the challenge)
Locoroco
Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins (again, if you can handle the challenge)

There's a few more I can't remember. I actually have more PSP games than any other current gen system (360, PS3, or DS)

Ys Oath In Felghana should be right up your alley. Short and sweet, but very good quality. I couldn't imagine anyone getting bored with it.

Damn, its crazy how much good stuff has accumulated on the PSP over the years. You should feel lucky to discover so many amazing games.

Tactics Ogre is a great RTS fantasy game, if you like Final Fantasy Tactics (which is also available on PSP)

Monster Hunter Unite is the definitive MH game, with many of the environments and enemies from all previous titles.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is another great mission based game, like Monster Hunter is, only with the Metal Gear kind of gameplay

Killzone: Liberation is a fun, top down arcade style shooter.

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles is a remake of Dracula X, but the game has the full Symphony of the Night, and Dracula X (pixels!) games as unlockables.

--------------------------------------
those were my main games on the system, but I also had fun with these:
Metal Slug anthology
Guilty Gear Judgement
(not a fighter, but a great old school side scrolling beat em up!)
With the ability to convert PS1 classics off the PSN store, I also got a decent memory card, and have these games always embedded in my system wherever it goes: Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Metal Gear Solid, Suikoden, Castlevania:SOTN, Xenogears, Mega Man 2 (import PS1),

To be fair though the library got really good in these last couple of years.

I remember i wasnt interested at all in getting one by 07/08

I actually just borrowed a friend's PSP to see if I wanted to re-buy a used go--so I'm looking for recommendations as well.

But it seems the only two games I'm playing right now is all I need:

I'll echo the sentiment for Tactics Ogre. I haven't even considered playing anything else since I started it a few days ago. So far, I'd say that I'm enjoying it more than Final Fantasy Tactics. Definitely consider it unless you absolutely hate strategy RPGs.

What are peoples favorite puzzle games for the system? So far I have Lumines and Every Extend Extra.

I used to love FF Tactics and the Ogre Battle games, but I can not for the life of me play RPG's or SRPG's on handheld system.

My brother is an avid player of Phantasy Star Portable 1 & 2.

You might look into them if you enjoyed the gameplay of universe, but missed the replay of episode 1&2 on dreamcast/gamecube.

Also, Little Big Planet is always great. : )

One more vote for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

I can also recommend LittleBigPlanet (especially if you haven't played the PS3 version, but it still stands on its own) and Half Minute Hero.

There are tons of great games on the PSP, but I think my favorite game is Peace Walker. I'm not even a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series, but it's just so damn good. Especially if you have at least one buddy to play with. Either way, it's a phenomenal game, and has hundreds of hours of content and very high replayability.
