On display in the "Kentia Hall" part of TGS was a small Memory Stick TV recorder, complete with tuner, component, and composite AV in/out.

It takes Memory Stick pro duos. It has built in tuner, can record live TV or dub other sources and it records in real time, directly onto the card in the correct PSP format and folder structure.

Because I am retarded, I forgot to get the flyer so I cant remember what it was called. But it fuckin' rules. And I think it is going to be cheap.

There's a few different solutions like this starting to pop up, but if this one does in fact have component inputs, it'll be a step up from the others, I think.

Also, Sony has a DVR coming out in Japan that has memstick slot and will transfer recorded shows in PSP compatible H.264 format video to an inserted stick. Of course, this is much more expensive solution since its a full-on DVR (with DVD DL burner as well) but, if you're in the market...

IN an ideal world, Tivo would add mem stick and MP4 support to its very nice Tivo to Go solution, and let manufacturers add a multi-card reader.

I have absolutely no idea how one of those things would work but I need one. Can you set it to record at specific times or what?

The Hori one costs 13440yen, it can only encode MPEG4, but not MPEG4 AVC format. No tuner, no timer, it just syncs with whatever you hook it up to (i.e. VCR).

On the other hand, Fujiworks has a better spec overall, it does MPEG4 AVC format, but it costs freakin' 60000yen. You can also use this as a movie player, not just as a recorder.

My PC has a tuner, a PVR program and MemCard slot.

Somebody just needs to write some code to make them work together.
