PSPtard pack?! Gigapackton!

Okay, so there were no Xbox3DO's to laugh at in Target today, but more importantly they had a section for PSP Giga Packs. . . and it was empty! Meanwhile there were a gang of unloved PSPtard packs sitting to the left of it untouched.

Could it be consumers, or fine Sony connoisseurs (my sheeple!), can spot a deal when they see one?

PSPtard pack price am drop?!

Inquiring minds want to know.

Both PSP packs are tard packs. The PSP should come with nothing extra at a much cheaper price ($179 or $199) and you buy your own gig mem stick for far cheaper on the net. Forced bundles suck.

I still don't understand how the giga pack is a "great" deal when the value pack is not.

Try buying a 1GB memory stick and a PSP stand (which is handy) and a USB cable for anywhere near $50.

But, I really wish they had just come out with a core system for $199.

Where in that pictures is this stand I hear about?

You mean $100? Don't tell me the $50 headphones and 16mb stick are worth the $50 markup of the valuepack.

It's the price of memory cards at retail.

IIRC, a 512MB memory card for the PSP goes for about $75 @ Target. So when you're in store, it just jumps out and punches you in the god damn face. Plus you get a bunch of other crap with it too.

If it's the same one in the brochure, it's a clear piece of plastic. Which may explain why you can't see it. :P

Says the man who loves the Xbox360 premium pack.

The 1GB memory card is indispensable for proper PSP usage, just like the hard drive is for the X360.

I think the bundle comparisons between the 2 approaches are almost identical. (Not accounting for whether one thinks of the given systems)

Plus try playing Socom with the headset without the remote control. I wonder how many people who traded in their remotes were pissed about that.

Oh that is a great value right there ;) But nevermind actually, I shelled out like 50$ for my ipod dock..... yeah. Nevermind.

A carrying case/pouch is pretty essential too.

The carrying pouch with the PSP packs is pretty damn abyssmal, though. If you don't have a Logitech case, you're asking to get fucked.

Yeah, talk about a scam. Any maroon can stick an "i" in front of some crap and sell it for $50-75.

I paid uh, what was it?

. . .

I can't remember, but I paid pretty good money for my Otterbox, but that keeps my iPod from drowning, scratching, and drop damage. It's a pretty badass piece of kit, and it doesn't have an "i" in front of it. :P

I guess we're all suckers in our own retarded little way. :(

Love is a strong word. I'd prefer 360 w/ HDD it to be cheaper but $$$ is not an issue here given what it does.

OTOH you have the PSP. :D 1GB card is pointless if you just want to play PSP games and have an iPod like teh rest of the world already.

Black Friday is ~48 hours away. If there hasn't been a price drop or rumours of one 'til now, there probably won't be one.

Dumb ucks at Sony.

Maybe after the Holidays it will happen, but this is just incidental / isolated evidence. Maybe PSPtard packs are selling okay elsewhere?

The new sales figures should be interesting for this one.

1-2GB card is pretty much essential with PSP if you want to play any kind of videos on it, which it's much better for than ipod. Throw in the current and future game downloads, custom soundtracks for GTA and some mp3s as well (might as well have them there even if you have ipod, unless you want to carry both things with you).

Not to mention it's absolutely necessary (and barely enough) if you want any kind of homebrew or the ability to run games off the memstick.

chinch is absolutely free of corporate bias. Please don't presume to question his objective analysis of this situation.

then put your money where your mouth is and don't purchase one ;)

Otterboxes are awesome. That's what people put their recorders in when they go do field recording in the jungle/desert/whatever exotic locale.

May actually be overkill unless you're in some dangerous environment.

I dunno. I killed my first iPod by complete accident.

That whole biking home in the middle of a torrential downpour / lightning storm thing and getting soaked to the bone. :P

At least it died with it's boots on - rocking my world to The Mercenary by Iron Maiden!

If Otter products made a PSP case, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Nope. Target periodically resets their layouts for the game section, and the price tags come in strips that print out automatically, even for product that they don't have in stock yet. I've yet to see a PSP Giga Pack at my Target, and none of the others in the district have them yet either. If you looked at the DS section, you'd probably see an empty spot with a price tag for the Mario Kart DS Bundle that comes out next week, too.

I have still never actually been bothered to do this shit. If I take my [hardcore white] PSP out it's to fucking play games, not to watch a movie like some asshole. Movies are for TVs. Ridge Racer is for PSP.

I've seen the gigapacks at the Target near my job. The guy told me that they are selling at the same rate as the PSPtard pack.

Sarcasm right? Because you took it a bit too far.
