Already spent like 2 hours on this today between portable and docked mode.

Amazing game and amazing price.

I do feel like I have a TON to learn, even in Tetris. I tried online mode and got crushed lol.

Based on what S2 was saying, the math does make sense:

If you can setup consecutive tspins, you can theoretically do more than consecutive tetrises since it doesn't require as many blocks to execute.

But how to set up tho :v

Also, it feels that at my level, I should probably just learn how to set up 6-7 combos in Tetris for now... it's pretty damaging against Puyo.

I watched most of the tutorial videos, felt like I had an awakening...
Then i started playing and went back to my regular ways. 😑

Alright guys, hold it. I'm very good at Tetris. Like.. I constantly hard drop and get back to back Tetrises very frequently.

However, all I'm seeing is this T-Spin thing that hurts my head while looking at it. Is it necessary to win online? I'm not new to it as I have played Tetris DS and Tetris Axis a LOT, but I never felt it was as important as it is now. Triple T spin is better than a Tetris? How do you even begin to set up one of those?

Oh man. I was looking forward to my Tetris skills being enough and having to learn Puyo Puyo only. :(

Thats not Tetris! How does it even fit in like that? I know it's been there for years but I've never really thought about it. This will take some time getting used to.

Pretty good write-up. I agree with all of it.

Hopefully we get NES Tetris via virtual console soon for some single player tetris.

I bought this mainly for playing with friends, but i'm going through some of the solo stuff right now.

EDIT: I spent a lot time 1 year playing Tetris and getting my first level 15 clear. Nowadays on any modern tetris I can get a level 15 clear 99% of the time.

I went back to NES tetris not too long ago and got my ass whooped. It was pretty refreshing actually.

Been playing Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine in preparation for this! I'm freaking excited because I love puyo puyo and it's a game I think my wife will like too. Wish it came today but gotta wait till Thursday.

Why not get it on disk? If the rest of your library is digital, you'd never have to take it out of the disk drive.

Holy shit I am REALLY fucking bad at this game. I have failed multiple times at even the early adventure mode challenges.

I don't think so, which is why I think it's even weirder how some reviewers got digital copies.

There is no digital version on PS4. Something to do with licensing issue, despite the Switch having a digital version. It's really weird how this game was released.

Don't feel bad, a lot of us are in the same position lol.

It's been fun so far tho, specially learning a totally new thing for me like Puyo.

So the implications of Tetris licensing is that Puyo Puyo Tetris is going to be the only Tetris game on Switch?

Loving the adventure mode. Cute story and going for all stars in each level is absolutely addictive.

And it's brilliant that the start menu let's you hop into a play session without having to mess with menus. Such a QoL upgrade, especially after spending hours with the demo that makes you go through everything each time, including the Sega jingle.

First I've actually heard of T-spins, I looked it up and was not hyped lol.

It looks tough, will have to give it a try when I'm further with the game.

So they give you more points? How do you mean by chaining it into a combo? The piece disappears after it clears the lines right, do you mean with the next piece dropping?

Or do you keep one T block in storage and do a 2nd t-spin after the first?

i really like that the whole ui is touch based. really hope nintendo keeps this for pokemon but i doubts hey will, lol

It'll feel weird going through the story now that I'll actually be able to understand WTF is going on. Back when I first played my PS4 JP import copy I just made up my own based on the character reactions.

the combo rush mechanic steadily increases damage if you consecutively clear lines. Here's a really grotesque example:

Yes, you can still play classic endless Tetris and one-on-one Tetris.

Thanks, I saw that before hah. I'm surprised the puyo puyo guy lost after that massive chain, which was well above my level with puyo puyo atm.

I was wondering specifically about t-spin ...he was saying they are "cheaper and easier" than 'l' blocks? Not quite sure how yet.

It's a lot easier to get points with t-spins? I feel like it's an advanced technique... maybe you get more Ts than Is?

I want this game, but that additional £15 Switch tax is putting me off. Not sure if I should get it from the US store, if I can work out how to buy the US points. :/

there's also eshop canada? it's CAD$39.99 which is around £23~

you can also buy CAN eshop cards on the PayPal site, dunno if that has the same restriction

edit: ah, just checked, it does :(

sorry... you could check the Buy Sell Trade thread on neogaf to check if anyone is selling US eshop codes.
