QA solidarity thread

You know it. It's that time of the project when you're being asked to do a 24-hour shift on a Sunday, when newer versions keep pouring in as the team rushes to get the game done on time. You're in no way obligated to do it, but you do it anyway because you care for the game you're working on. I'm heading into the last 12 hours of this 24-hour shift of testing. I'm already starting to be tired. I just stacked up on Bawls and hoping it will help.

Wish me luck!

Anyone else on this board ever experienced this?

Been there, done that :) I feel your pain man. Just keep thinking of the fat dollars. It'll be worth it in the end, to see a game you're proud of on the shelf :)

I actually started to look forward to the extra-long OT QA sessions after a while. It's a special kind of atmopshere, hanging out with people you get to know real well, and if you're really lucky you get to work for a company that pays for food and drinks while you're there at 2am. Not in any hurry to go back to QA but those crunch times were some of the most fondly remembered times so far :)

"holy fuck, showstoppers in v1.02! WE'RE DOOMED, BOYS; ready the sleeping bags."

man oh man, my days in QA for a couple of companies were golden. I wager I'll see them again soon too. It was like working in a frat house. Crunch time stress was killer, but the good times were always really good...as was that sweet, sweet OT pay.

*swoon*

Saaaay, what game are you working on anyway? Can you give us names or a hint or a screenie or something? Don't hold out on your fellow bretheren!
