Qdoba vs Chipotle

Qdoba's queso is godlike, and slathering a burrito in that makes up the difference in ingredients between Qdoba and Chipotle. They're both really good. I don't bother with Moe's, but I am also very fond of Panchero's, who makes their tortillas fresh when you order and mixes the ingredients before rolling up the burrito.

In my dream world I would get a Panchero's tortilla, filled with Chipotle ingredients, Qdoba queso, and have everything mixed up inside like Panchero does.

Chipotle all the way. The ingredients just taste better. And It's like eating a baby, it will keep you full.

Chipotle's ingredients taste better and seem fresher to me most of the time. Only thing Qdoba has over Chipotle is that they use the Cholula sauce and the Queso.

I remember when both could actually be considered good food! This was when I lived in Denver in 1998 and Chipotle had like 2 storefronts and Qdoba 2 or 3, and Illegal Pete's was a small shack in Boulder. Now whenever I go to either I get a stomach ache lol. A prior poster mentioned Chavelas, if you are in Brooklyn this is great inexpensive 'real' Mexican food.

If anybody's in the southeast, you should check out Barberitos. They started in Athens, GA but they're all over the state, a few in FL, SC, NC, and TN.

Aren't the chips like 500+ calories?

Everything at Chiptole is a ton of calories. I remember back when Chipotle was still pretty new and just popping up a coworker said he loved going there to eat healthy because he was cutting back on fried food.

We don't have Chipotle here, so my experience with them is based off 3 visits.

Moe's > Chipotle > qdoba

I used to live qdoba, but have been gradually liking it it less and less over the years. The food doesn't seem to have the quality it used to

Qdoba. I tried Chipotle first and liked it well enough, but found Qdoba better in every way although not significantly so. They are pretty similar.

I do have a local Mexican place and they are very good and have humongous burritos. Puts the chains to shame. But I don't find the taste or freshness to be so far ahead either. But it's still an easy win.

It is pretty healthy compared to regular fast food still. Calories =/= unhealthy.

Qdoba's queso is their worst product. It's cheese water, no thickness and little flavor. If for no other reason everyone should agree Moe's has the superior queso

He was pretty fat. He should have been more concerned with not eating a 1200 calorie burrito.

This is crazy talk. Never once have I had it and thought, "This is cheese water."

Chipotle's ingredients are way better, but dat queso :O. In college we used to buy a bowl/pint/whatever of queso from Qdoba, then go to Chipotle and get some burrito bowls with a tortilla on the side and make our own queso burritos. Basically the best of both worlds. The thing of queso would last for 2-3 rounds of Chipotle (~15 burritos).

I went to a local Qdoba once and from what I remember, liked it... then a few months later, Chipotle opened up across the way and Qdoba closed. :( Don't really care much for Chipotle.

Never been to Moe's, my favorite burrito place is Green Cactus, but I think that's local to LI.

They're only that much if you lay on the sour cream and guacamole.

This thread was making me hungry so I started checking for the nearest locations.

Chipotle: 90 miles

Moes: 66 miles

Qdoba: 0 within 50 miles

Please do yourselves a favor and find some authentic hole in the wall. They are always 1000x better than these chains which are just a step above Taco Bell.

Qdoba. In my area, they are slightly cheaper and the food is just as good.

The chipoltes i've been to use way too much salt. At least at Qdoba, you dont taste the salt as much...

The guac is cheaper at Qdoba as well...

None of these places are putting out "authentic" mexican food. It's all California style burritos/tacos. And that is what some people like.

Texas-GAF knows what I'm talking about.

Eh. The last time I tried a bowl at Freebirds, it was incredibly bland.

Part of it has to do with how well they mix up the rice. Usually I love the rice at Chipotle, but the last time I went I kept tasting the salt.

Maybe it was a bad day. I haven't had anything bad from them yet, and I love the options they give you compared to Chipotle.

You know what, a Freebirds JUST opened up down here in Texas not even a month ago. I'mma have to check it out, thanks Texas-GAF
Make sure you try one of the unique tortilla flavors.

Just wanted to bump and say I took your advice when I went there today, and it was FANTASTIC. When I think of all those wasted time at Taco Bell/Taco Cabana, I get a little upset.

Both are just marginally better than Taco Bell.

Moe's is the best of the chain restaurants, but it's best if you can find a locally owned joint

I question whether you've actually been to any of the places you're commenting on. Calling them only marginally better than Taco Bell shows a level of ignorance...for one, Taco Bell beef is only like 20% meat...who knows how else they skimp on other things
